Star FK Radium has something new, and it's catching people's attention.
Emotive yet logical, Star FK Radium is a simple trio with large orchestration.
With Bill on acoustic guitar, Matt on drums and Alissa on violin, Star FK Radium's music exhibits characteristics of both chamber music and acoustic rock, using revolving melody lines, classical themes and expressive tempo changes.
It's called "musicbox".
Complex and, at times, driving acoustic guitar is balanced by emotional violin interludes, and musical give-and-take with the full drum sound. And it's because Star FK Radium's members derive their styles from such eclectic musical backgrounds that the music challenges the listener to define it within a single musical category.
Bill's playing and writing reflect as various influences as Jimi Hendrix and psychadelic rock of the 60s and 70s, classical music, and contemporary bands such as Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots, Sigur Ros and Boards of Canada. Matt lists punk rock and marching band as influences in his playing, and Alissa's background is one of classical chamber music and symphonic orchestra.
Star FK Radium together puts on an enrapturing live show, pulling in listeners with their subtly evolving yet intricately designed melodies. Not defined by traditional musical genres, the band appeals to fans of rock, classical, jazz, and beyond. They have been recognized by a number of influential people in the DC music scene and beyond.
"I think your songs would make a great soundtrack music. I think you sound like a very avant-garde though not exacerbately complicated essence featuring an intimate touch and a pervasively enjoyable bouquet ..."
- Paolo, Switzerland
"In these days of soulless electronic pop, it's great to hear music that is simple and unpretentious, yet unique, melodic and wonderfully innovative. Star FK Radium are as intriguing as their name."
