Movies
The Lord of the Rings; anything by Monty Python; anything by Terry Gilliam; The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplain); anything by Alfred Hitchcock (my favorite is North by Northwest); anything with Cary Grant (especially Bringing Up Baby with Katherine Hepburn, directed by Howard Hawks); Sergio Leone's Fistfull of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West; anything by Christopher Nolan (especially Memento); Star Wars (I don't think the new trilogy, while definitely inferior to the original, is a bad as some people make it out to be)... this list could go on for a long time.Television
My favorite shows are Seinfeld, Friends, The Screen Savers (on G4TechTV; I was a big fan a couple of years before the merger of TechTV with G4), Cowboy Bebop, and X Play (again on G4TechTV).Books
The Lord of the Rings (I started really getting interested in Tolkein in 5th grade; his writing inspired me to read more and begin my own writing); anything by C.S. Lewis (especially The Screwtape Letters, The Space Trilogy, Mere Christianity, and Miracles - I think Mere Christianity should be a must read for any new Christian, and Lewis's book on miracles contains some of the best arguments, philosophically speaking, for the existence of the supernatural); anything by H.G. Wells (he was my first love, literarily speaking, although I didn't know of his atheism and opposition to Christianity until later); The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov (this book, like Tolkein's works, inspired me to write, but I don't really like Asimov's later additions to the Foundation cycle); anything by Neil Gaiman (especially Neverwhere); The Manuscript Found at Saragossa by Jan Potocki (I'm in the middle of this one)... like the movie list, this one could go on a long time.Heroes
Jesus Christ - while I may admire many people for the work they've done (people like Dr. Matin Luther King, Jr. spring to mind) whether it be humanitarian, artistic, scholarly, or religious, He is the only one I would call my hero, the One I strive to be more like (even though most of the time I fail miserably).

About me:
.. I will be a teacher at a small (2A), rural Texas school district outside of Lubbock TX, but I'm not totally sure what I'll be teaching; when I was hired, it was Senior English, but now it's changed to Gov/Eco with some other things thrown in ;). I am happily married to the most wonderful and beautiful woman in the world; we've been married for a little over four years. We moved from Austin, TX back to Brownwood, TX (where we both went to Howard Payne University), were in Katy for a year, but have now moved up to Lubbock where my wife will be working on her MFA in Theatre. My main interests are history (my major in college), literature (I minored in English), religion/theology, and music (primarily Christian alternative/hard rock). I play guitar (and drums and bass when I have to); mostly I've played in praise and worship bands as well as leading on my own.
In the future I would like to: 1) Obtain a doctorate in English and/or History; 2) Open a book/music/coffee/thrift store with my wife, Jen; 3) Teach college level History and/or English; 4) Start/join a rock band, tour, and change the music industry from a corrupt, selfish parasite into a genuinely creative and influential community; and most importantly 5) Live happily for a long time with my wife, helping as many people as God allows me and die knowing that I did the best with the life He's given me.
