The story of the band started in 2004 in Naples (Italy). One hot evening, Jimmy, Oreste and Raphael met each other in a pub. Raphael and Oreste were drinking pints of beer, Jimmy ordered a cocktail and so decided to form a new band. After some days they decided to adopt the name "Starframes". At first Starframes were influenced by powerpop and the 00's indie scene. They put some demos out between 2004 and 2006, but many songs from that period would have been rejected. Starframes started to be influenced by the 60s garage and 70s psycho-rock and changed for good their sound and songwriting. During those years Starframes collected several gigs all over Italy. At the end of 2007 Oreste left the band and Marco took the place of him. During that period they were planning to record their debut album “Street Politics”, so they had to work hard to find a balance again. Starframes decided that the best way to get what they wanted to get was to finance by themselves the entire work. In April 2008 they started the recording sessions at Lava Lab in Boscotrecase, at the feet of the Vesuvio. The mixing ended at the end of May 2008. The next month Jon Astley (who had worked for artists such as The Who, Eric Clapton and George Harrison) mastered it at the Close To The Edge Studio in London. Christy Fry from the Mile High Music takes an interest in the album. After some months he decides to release the album in 2009 in collusion with the band. After that Starframes extend their line-up. Pedro (bass and guitar player) and Zack (keyboarder) join the band. Now the band consists of 6 people and this lets the guys reach new musical solutions and a sound that really impacts. “Street Politics” is released on the 1st of June 2009 for Mile High Music/Cargo Records on digital format. That week Starframes present the album with three gigs in London.
REVIEWS
SENTIREASCOLTARE (7.2/10, ITA)
Guitars that drive regardless across acid rusts or softly committed to comb visionary ballads, the chest is always full of what makes you stand up straight and look into your shaken heart, singing out your own version..with wild lyricism
ONDAROCK (7/10, ITA)
The band put out a solid debut, and perfectly smooth, well written and played with constant intensity, open faced , without fear of revealing the aesthetic imagery and sound from which it moves, but without ever lapsing into an empty self-celebration. Instead, the band manages to turn his passion into something living and singable in a certain universe of typical 60s sounds, which can involve the listener in contemporary emotions.
UNDERGROUNDZINE (9.5/10, ITA)
Starframes denote a certain maturity of composition and this appears clearly in every single track on the album. I would mention "Stand Up On The River Sand," "The Truth Lies In God," "Saints and Blessed Men ", but I must say that not even one song disappointed me. This is an album full of ideas and well arranged.
ROCKERILLA (7/10, ITA)
Debut album for a Neapolitan band. They are sons of time: "Street Politics" is out on digital format on a small English label. Street Politics starts with the manifesto "I do play my rock and roll", a kind of primer of the 70s. Proto punk episodes ( "The Killer"), moods between The Charlatans and The Who ( "The Pusher" and "Fire") and Beatlesque melodies ( "Camden Town") denote that Street Politics is an album that smells like something consumed ."The truth lies in God" and the closing "The Afterlife" are more psychedelic. The feeling is that the album could work better abroad.
HANDSHAKER WEBZINE (not rated, CHI)
“Camden Town” seems to be a Beatles song, though the rhythm lead more to the 70s country and the clapping in the instrumental is something that makes people smile. The Italian accent is almost imperceptible and songs like "The truth lies in God," "Fire" and "The Afterlife" are really influenced by the classic British rock tradition.
BACKPACKROCK.NET (3/5, CRO)
Coming from Naples, this band started in 2004, and in the beggining of 2008. they started with recording sessions for this album. After hearing these 11 songs, musically inspired by the likes of The Who, The Kinks and The Doors, and lyrically inspired by God and man’s seeking for the truth, I must say I liked varieties in tempo, doubtless playing craft and obvious ambition these fellows have.
Thanks for the nice words, yeah, unknown is what I strive for ;)
Seriously, glad I capture a bit of the sound of the 60's psychedelic noise garage bands...I have heard that before and I do actually consider it a BIG compliment!
I really like the sound you guys have going quite a bit, it's warm fuzzy and fun.
Keep up the good work, I hope it takes you where you want to be. -Sheriden

The guitars sound great, nice vocals too, there's a lot of energy and a fun vibe running through your work. I think that you deserved more than a 7 out of 10 on that one review, but hey, everyone has different taste in music.
Anyway, want to wish you the best in all things and would love your feedback on my own sound, if you get a chance.
