Staring At Strange, San Diego’s premier female-fronted music group, makes music proudly reflective of innumerable influences. From rock and prog to jazz and funk, these four veteran musicians coalesce to create a unique and distinct sound all their own. Miss Kelly Strange, front woman and vocal powerhouse, exploits her three octave range and diverse musical background singing with her father’s jazz group and early classical training, deliverng eloquence and attitude through a crystal clear, crushing performance. Guitarist Dave Maciel, a veteran of the LA music scene, offers a unique flair to the ‘Strange. An accomplished studio and touring musician, Maciel’s myriad of influences and intricate style enhance the flavor and texture of the band’s mix. Monster bassist BeAlzaRob Griffin, brings the low end to the ‘Strange rhythm section with his thunderous bass riffs and explosive technique, never failing to be a crowd-pleaser. Exceptional and occasionally operatic, drummer Gavin Haswell’s highly energetic style lays down the perfect rhythmic compliment to the powerhouse performances that have come to be expected of the ‘Strange.
Staring At Strange have just finished their first full-length CD and are currently balancing their work on new music with a busy playing schedule.
