I love to read, sing (yes, this means karaoke) and belly dance. I grew up spending weekends at the lake, so being outdoors in the summertime is a must.
Music
I like all kinds of music, but I tend to gravitate to more "folksy" types. I love Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Tom Petty, Josh Ritter, Douglas September, and on and on... If you have never heard the music of Alice Peacock, you must check her out. I like Tori Amos, but I'm kindof "old school" when it comes to her music because I think "Little Earthquakes" is still her best over-all cd. I also can't leave out Imogen Heap, the Jellydots, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Blue October, Belle and Sebastian and The White Stripes. There are still a lot of 80's bands that I love like Duran Duran, Night Ranger, The Outfield, Heart, etc... You've gotta love rock ballads, right? I also love The Smiths and Morrissey.
New stuff that I've been listening to lately that I love would be Amy Winehouse. Check out The Pierces as well.
I know I've left out TONS of stuff that I love, but I'd be here all day if I tried to list everything.
Movies
Grey Gardens (everyone should see this!) I like mostly drama/documentary, but there are a few movies that aren't so serious that I love. Napolean Dynomite, The Princess Bride, Pretty Woman, Tombstone, American Psycho, Madagascar.....and the list goes on. For a good documentary, check out "Country Boys" which originally aired on PBS, but is available on dvd. It's really good.
Television
I don't really watch much television, but I will watch my dvs of The Gilmore Girls over and over again.
Books
This one is hard because I read alot. My favorite book from high school is Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. I like historic fiction and my top picks would probably be Winds of War and War and Remembrance by Herman Wouk. The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger was outstanding. I've read all of the Harry Potter books and I love them because they remind me so much of the writing of Roald Dahl. I'm sure I'll add more later, but it's to hard to narrow down books that I really, REALLY love.
Heroes
My parents. As an adult, I really understand how much of themselves they gave up to give me a great childhood. They're truly incredible.
I have 9 nephews and 3 nieces and I love being their auntie. It takes a lot of my time and money, but nothing is more rewarding.
I live a very simple life.....busy, but simple. I don't like drama but occassionally it finds me and that really annoys me. If you are the kind of person that brings drama with you, turn around, walk away....I really have no need for you in my life. I have a well-defined life philosophy that really seems to work for me. If you want to know what it is, message me and I'll tell you.
Most of the time I'm pretty aloof, but I have a breaking point and if I'm pushed beyond that, watch your head...it may roll.
I'm secretly afraid that I'm lazy, so I like to stay busy. I have alot of side projects that I'm involved with that take care of most of my free time. I also love spending time with friends, but I still manage to find time to be alone so I can read and maintain my sanity.
There is someone special in my life (and he's not on myspace so there's no need to click on my top friend....unless you want to meet my good friend, Kelly). What he and I have is unique and I like to keep him all to myself which is why you won't read much about him here.
Thank you for coming out to ring in Sarah's 21st year with us!! Man, that was good times & Lord knows she'll never forget it:) On the way back to the hotel, Terri said, 'I turn 22 in a week... let's come back and do it again!" LOL!
