Aint nobody ever hit the drums harder on the one than Buddy .


The Band of gypsies record changed my musical life as much as any Miles , Trane , James Brown , or Sly Stone record ever did .

I remember ditching school with my cousin to go see the Jimi Hendrix film fest way back in 1976.

I dug all the films and wanted to change my instrument to guitar from drums .

But then they played the footage from the Band of Gypsies ....
When I heard how he came down on the beat on " The Power of Love " before the guitar solo ....
It was all over for me !
I stayed with the drums .

Mitch Mitchall said Buddy reminded him of a cement mixer when he played .


Well I agree .. A funky cement mixer ,with a BIG POCKET !!!
After him , there will be no more .


Rest in Peace and say hi to Jimi for me .
