General	The Gala is Friday, May 15, 2009 with the theme of "Through the Looking Glass". Location: The Crystal Ballroom at the Rice Lofts Downtown Time: 7:30 P.M. to midnight Details: Ticket prices - $275.00 per couple, $175.00 individuals. Tables available by calling 713-266-2877, e-mailing starlightgala@gmail.com or checking out our website at Starlight Gala As a precursor to last year's gala, a fashion show was held on Thursday, February 7, 2008. Our first "Cure By Design in Star-Studded Style" show was held at Lucky's Pub located at 801 St. Emanuel @ Rusk. All proceeds from the event benefit the Starlight Gala and the American Cancer Society. CRISTINA TERRILL,reporter from Great Day Houston was the emcee for this year's fashion show. This event showcased designs from Langford Market and Duo. Winners of our model search, held on November 29, 2007, strutted their stuff with hairstyles by The Upper Hand Salon and make-up by The Funky Hue. This was a must-see event and a night to remember. If you would like more information on this event or would like to donate your time or service, please contact our Fashion Show Chair, Victoria Vela, at victoria.vela@banksterling.com. Our signature drink of the night was the Star-Studded Martini. Portions of the proceeds from the sale of the Star-Studded Martini will be donated back to the Starlight Gala by Lucky's Pub. Thank you to our 2008 Fashion Show underwriters, sponsors and in-kind donors for supporting this stylish event and helping our fight against cancer!

Starlight Gala benefiting American Cancer Society's Blurbs

About me:

Starlight Gala benefits the American Cancer Society and is a black-tie event geared towards young professionals between the ages of 25 to 45 to introduce them to the world of philanthropy. The Gala started in 1996 by Ashlee Brown whose vision was to show the City of Houston that the young professionals do care about the community and want to make a difference. For the past 12 years, there have been 100+ volunteers on an annual basis and we have raised more than $1.2 million for research, education, advocacy and service.

Starlight Gala's highlights include festive entertainment, elegant decorations and fine dining. Guests have the opportunity to further support the mission through gaming, silent auctions and raffles. Starlight Gala sets the bar for other ACS galas!

One of the activities that makes Starlight Gala unique is the dedication of the evening to a Shining Star in the fight against cancer. Participants do more than attend the gala, they "Celebrate the Victory, Encourage the Fight, and Honor the Memory" of cancer patients everywhere.

Who I'd like to meet:
Planning for the gala is a great way for young professionals to meet and network among a diverse group of peers. Along with the planning of the gala, happy hours and community outreach projects are also on the calendar of events. Starlight Gala is a great success due in part to the hundreds of volunteer hours that are spent preparing for this annual event and the continued support of the Houston Community. Each dollar raised helps the American Cancer Society get one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.
