Hello. This is Nathan. I'm the main songwriter for the band. My brothers and I started Starlite Radio back in 2002. My wife (who was my girlfriend back then) joined the band a few months after it started. Since then, we've explored a lot of different styles, and though I don't think we've landed on "our sound" yet, we kinda hope we don't. That's what friends and fans have said they like about us the most.
We think most people are connecting with the stories and the things we're writing about. A lot of it has to do with family, and being married, and trying to be songwriters and performers in an age where there's so much music out there it starts sounding like the buzz of a refrigerator. (I think I stole that analogy from Thom Yorke.)
We released our first full-length album back in May 2008. It was a 14-month project from start to finish that we recorded and produced ourselves. We are very proud of it, and had the opportunity to have Don Chaffer (from the bands Waterdeep and The Krusty Brothers) mix our album. Recently we won the 2008 Composer of the Year from the Rockford Area Music Industry for the last song on the album, The Winter Moon Is Fading.
You can get our album on CD at our shows, or you can go to our web site to order it online. And if you live in the Rockford, IL area, you can get it at Borders Books & Music. And if you honestly can't afford one, just talk to us and we'll try to work something out. Life is too short.
The name of our album is 22 Blackbirds, and you can read a review of it at Beetcafe.com.
Hey guys! Its Nathan Fry. Check out our new song "Scars and All" and tell me what you think. You all have been a major influence on Dave and I, and it would be an honor if you listened to the tune.
I really enjoyed sharing a bill with you guys at Kryptonite. I hope that we can do it again in the Spring...see if we can get Eric and The Empties back too!!
Hey guys! Sorry I couldn't make it to the show. Glad it went good! Grandma just sent me the cd, and I'm so proud of you that you all finally made a cd! Congrats! Love you!
Guys - had the fortune to see your CD release party (thanks Ben for letting us know you were doing this!!!)
Fantastic - I might need to buy a new CD because this one's going to burn up in my car, although, I have to admit, I put "blue" as my myspace song as it is my favorite. You guys have a fantastic sound!
I was going to make a comment regarding a certain date at a certain place and a certain time, but apparently the press release has not been made public.
I may or may not see you in the sometime or not-so-near future.
Thanks for the add you played at our church last year you guys were great River of life church of God 19th and Harrison. We have moved to Riverside Assembly. =)
I enjoyed your concert at Megs the other night. It was nice to hear one of Brians tunes done with a full band sound. Great music as always. Happy Holidays.
