*matters brings together musicians from every genre and meshes the sounds and influences of each of its members. since the members are constantly changing, so is the music. what remains the same is the passion behind the sound which carries through in each instrument, and each note. when musicians who have never worked together before get together to collaborate in the studio, something magical happens... and the outcome is always something a little different and always something a little special.
*matters began as a collaboration among a group of amazing boston musicians including brian viglione of the dresden dolls, russell chudnofsky of guitarzan and creator of the skypaint pop opera, monique ortiz of bourbon princess and AKACOD, linda viens of angeline and bad saints, and ej from ej labb. frontwoman kelly davidson, a boston rock-photographer, brought these fine folks together to cover her favorite christmas song: low's 'just like christmas.'
the song was recorded dec. 15, 2005 at jamspot (www.jamspot.com) during a full moon. it was a magical night with amazing energy and synergy among boston's finest...giving kelly insight into a world that before was just viewed from behind a camera.

on sunday, march 18, 2006, kelly davidson went back into the studio (www.mixonestudios.com) with a new crew of boston's finest (eric schmider, joe klompus, larry dersch, and tim sprague) to record an original tune. again, the energy was up, the process was magical, the only thing missing was the full moon.
I love the new tune!!! I'm so sad i didnt get to be with you guys but it sounds FANTASTIC, rich, sweet, catchy and beautiful! Can we do "Now" next?? pretty please? love you ALL xoxxoxooxoxo

I'm so glad Kelly thought of this, and so happy that she brought us all together. I'm proud to be a part of this supergroup, and psyched to be one half of the best damn rhythm section around!
