Music
I have extremely diverse tastes in music. I am usually fixated on unknown or relatively obscure music, but I'll listen to anything once. There is not enough room to list every band I like, so let's just go with saying that I like, no, I love music.

About me:

My name is Michael C. Bevis. I am a writer, musician, and visual artist from New Orleans, La.

My first published work, titled "And God Looked Away," is now available from this site as well as most major booksellers. It is a storm journal, written in the days before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina, and in a style that only a local who rode out the storm could attest.

I write features and reviews for a magazine, the aptly titled PARANOIZE, which is the only publication in New Orleans that covers the regional underground music scene. Make sure to buy some copies from the site when you visit.

I have worked as an illustrator for over 25 years. I have done album covers, website design, photography and photo manipulation, tattoo flash, flyers for local bands and businesses, etc. Most of the work found in my Illustration Archive is from various points between 1987 - 2004.

One discipline that I have pursued since I was a teenager is music. I am primarily unschooled, and honestly prefer it that way. I was vocalist for a hardcore punk band called KINDERGARTEN CORRUPTION, back in the mid-80's. In 1991, I formed New Orleans' first industrial/noise band named GIMP with my friend Robert McColley, who passed on in 2003. This left me to re-think my creative directions and musings. Please visit the site for the full document·

I took about a year off to dive fully into my writing, and then started to work with many of the same characters that have always been on the true fringes of the experimental NOLA Underground scene. I re-entered the world of sound with Star of Kaos, which continues the sonic experiments of Gimp... only with a decidedly more experimental scope. New and old material is just a click away.

Gratitude for visiting my page, and please be aware that I welcome any and all correspondence.
