Coming straight out of Chicago… Star People is busting an irie mash-up of reggae organ bubbling, banging hip-hop drums, and soulful vocal harmonies: a new style of urban roots music. The quartet is an outgrowth of the collaboration between emcee/songwriter Cosmos Ray and multi-instrumentalist J-Thermal. SP drops indie hip-hop for a new generation. "Cause back in the dayz, we were all Star People…”

Musicians, actors, artists, and those who love culture, be afraid. Chicago's trying to pass an ordinance that will basically shut down ALL venues smaller than 500+ seating. Anyone promoting entertainment will be required to get a promoter's license and liability insurance, which the venues already have.
This doesn't just affect Chicago acts. Anyone looking to perform in the third largest market will have to get this license. Where will you play? Where will you perform? Where will you experience entertainment in any form?
Chicago Acoustic Underground and I have set up an online petition. The city council is voting on this Wednesday, so visit now and leave a comment to sign this petition.
