The music of Stars and the Sea swirls with an honest and emotional current rarely found in today’s music scene.
Stars and the Sea delivers a memorable and completely original sound that manages to reflect a broad range of influences while defying simple categorization. This exciting new sound is showcased for all to see with the release of 8, the debut independently released EP in 2009
Recorded at Tribe Mark Studios in Baltimore, the 5 tracks on the EP not only showcase Stars and the Sea's ability to connect with an audience on an emotional level through their introspective songwriting style, but they also demonstrate their aptitude for creating specific moods through dynamics.
From the aggressive and guitar-driven opening statement of “Come To Me” through to the hushed and yearning plea of “For You” that brings the EP to a close, Stars and the Sea covers a large area of emotional territory in only five songs.
Katie Chambers, a cellist based in Annapolis, Maryland, makes a guest appearance on “Seven” and “For You” and her haunting passages add an entire new dimension to Stars and the Sea's sparse and moving arrangements.
Over the course of a mere 5 tracks, Stars and the Sea fires an opening salvo announcing its presence on the Baltimore music scene – providing enough to let you know it’s the real deal but still leaving you wanting more.
