Steph Szoke: Bass guitar, cat handler, arts n' crafts, token female, not having Autism.
Seth Bailey:Drums, Hurdy Gurdy, Glockenspiel, guitar parts that Jon doesn't know how to play, not very good at growing a beard.
Influences
Modest Mouse Radiohead The Flaming Lips Neutral Milk Hotel Of Montreal The Smiths The Shins Sunny Day Real Estate Weezer Foo Fighters Spoon Built To Spill
Note: We sound nothing like any of these bands and you have just wasted 5 seconds of your life by reading this.
Sounds Like
We use (like you care) and are in no way endorsed by:
Jon: Fender guitars (Classic '69 Tele), Marshall amps (MG100HDFX), sometimes Electro-Harmonix effects (USA Big Muff Pi)
Joe: Gibson (Les Paul Studio) and Fender (crazy-ass 90's HM and Floyd Rose Deluxe) guitars, Peavey 5150, Boss (DS1) modded Dunlop Crybaby, Behringer (V-Amp) and various other effects. Also goofy pawnshop guitars as much as possible.
Steph: ESP and Ibanez basses, Peavey amps (Combo 115)
Seth: Pacific drums (FX-series), Pearl hardware (PowerShifter Eliminator double pedal, Eliminator high hat stand, various boom cymbal stands) , Sabian cymbals (Paragons), Remo heads (Ambassadors on the toms), Evans Heads (Emads on the kick, Power Center on the snare)
We recently decided to post an actual bio.
Stars Are Bullets has been known by many names. It's A Trap!!!, Naked Tuxedo, and Jon and Seth's Magical Musical Monkey Magic.
Stars Are Bullets consists of four people. Joe and Steph who are married, and Jon and Seth who are also married but only to their loneliness (Actually Seth has a steady girlfriend and Jon has a wife. THROW YOUR PANTIES ELSEWHERE LADIES!!! However if you do bring clean underwear to the show Jon would appreciate it...)
We have been together for a little less than a year but haven't done nearly as much as we would like because of various entanglements, jobs, and bass player debacles.
We practice in Highland at Joe and Stephs house. Their cats are our biggest fans! Their neighbors...not so much.
Individual bios:
Jon: Besides being the lead singer/rhythm guitar player for Stars Are Bullets Jon is also a DJ at 89.9 WLCA. You can hear him every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 6-9 hosting The Wake Up Call. With his band, and disk jockeying Jon likes to give people as much cause to hate him as possible.
Seth: Besides being the drumster for Stars Are Bullets Seth is also a professional smart-ass. He writes for Something Awful.com and really really really really hates you if you've posted a video to youtube recently where you are trying to be funny. Knock that shit off. Seriously.
Joe: The lead guitar player/backup singer for Stars Are Bullets enjoys video games, doing things with his bassplayer wife, and from what I (Jon) understand is employed at some hospital somewhere where he gets paid to fix paper jams in the printers.
Stephanie: The newest addition to our band. Steph was at first just a gracious wife who allowed her husband (Joe) to practice with his band at their house. However after losing more bass-players than Jon's dad has lost fingers to loan-sharks (three) Steph finally decided to step in and play bass for us. YAY!
Saturdays in August, V&H Recreation in Breese, IL will have an Original Music Competition I will be arranging/hosting. Open to all genres. Solo acts to full bands.... anyone is welcome.
Contestants will be graded in 4 areas: Talent/Musicianship, Songwriting/Originality, Stage Presence/Overall Performance, and Crowd Participation.
NO ENTRY FEE - so you've nothing to lose. Details on prizes are still in the works. Likely to include a recording package as a grand prize & cash prizes for other acts. The biggest gift, in my opinon, is being able to perform your music for people who will listen & respect it. Share songs you wrote with other folks who actually give a shit about local original music.
Acts will have up to 35 minutes of availible performance time. ORIGINAL MUSIC ONLY. If a band plays a cover tune, they will be stopped & disqualified.
I'm taking reservations. Let me know what Saturday in August (1, 8, 15, or 22) you would prefer to perform.
-hit me up with any questions- Support Original Music!!!!
Officials have determined that the CANADIAN CUSTOMS invasion of St. Louis which will happen September 25 (this Thursday night) will be too large for The Underground to handle. As a result, the show has been moved to BROADWAY BISTRO ZOO. Also appearing are SCOTT KUBALA and GRABADORES. It will be hard to find a better show! And as if that weren't enough - Spaghetti Wrestling before the show!! Yes, you read it correctly - Spaghetti Wrestling!
The ZOO is a great place for live music, great food, and cold beer (as well as other beverages).
Before the show do yourself (and us) a favor and pick up our CD entitled "THE UNCONQUERED SON." It is available in Best Buy stores. It has been confirmed to us that it is in all the St. Louis District Best Buy stores including Fairview Heights (IL), Crestwood, Fenton, South County, Ellisville, Bridgeton, Brentwood, Chesterfield, and Mid Rivers Mall. It is also in other Missouri Best Buy stores (such as Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Kansas City, etc.), and others across the country. You can also find It at GB's Records and PMAC Stores.
BROADWAY BISTRO ZOO has promised the beer will be plentiful and cold, and we promise the house will be rockin"!!
CANADIAN CUSTOMS - you can't stop us, you can only hope to contain us!!

NEWFLASH TO OUR FANS AND FRIENDS IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA:
CANADIANS INVADE ST. LOUIS AGAIN!!
We are excited to have been asked to return to THE UNDERGROUND. The staff there makes it a great place to play. We will be there on September 25 and hope to have a great turnout. All shows are better with an involved crowd - and as seating will be limited, we urge everyone to get there early.

I like "Don't Slow Me Down." It was my favorite when I saw you all play five bass players ago in December. Hooray for posting it so I don't have actually reach up to the stack of cds on top of my computer tower to hear it.
NEWSFLASH: CANADIANS TAKE OVER BEST BUY AND RETURN TO ST. LOUIS!!!
In case you haven’t heard, our CD "THE UNCONQUERED SON" dropped onto the shelves in BEST BUY stores last Monday (July 14).
AND - if you missed us last week at THE UNDERGROUND, you have another opportunity to see us in St. Louis at THE BROADWAY BISTRO ZOO this Saturday (July 26).
PLEASE BE SURE TO TELL THEM AT THE DOOR THAT YOU ARE THERE TO SEE CANADIAN CUSTOMS!!
Due to a scheduling conflict (we have to leave earlier than originally planned to make another show in Macon) our time to play has been changed to approximately 2:30 p.m. (there are several bands so we can’t be exact about the time, but that should be close).
Do yourself (and us) a favor and pick up one of our CDs in your local BEST BUY. We would be happy to autograph any that are brought to the show. If you have never been to the BROADWAY BISTRO ZOO, it is a great place for live music - two stages (one indoor and one outdoor). They have promised the beer will be cold and we promise the ZOO will be rockin’!!
CANADIAN CUSTOMS - YOU CAN'T STOP THEM - YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN THEM!!!
One day, I went through Stars Are Bullets friends list and found many foxy ladies. Only one problem... NONE WERE LOCAL!!! So thank you Quazi Whistle, your bramble patch of lies has crushed yet another heart... :(
