J. Castell a rapper/producer originally from Central America, El Salvador but has been living in Adelaide, Australia for 16 years now. The type of music that he writes, produces and perform is Hip Hop, RnB and Reggaeton with a Latin influence both in the music and vocal delivery, as it is sometimes noticed in some of the lyrics where a combination of English and Spanish has been used.
The lyrics are mainly related to the way of life in Adelaide/Australia and his interpretation of Hip-Hop. Themes range from fun outgoing to conscience lyricism and straight witty word play. The music allows him to transcend many of the intentions spoken in the lyrics. As mentioned before he produces all of his music and writes all of his lyrics. The music is up-tempo beats, R&B to raw Hip-Hop and Reggaeton tracks but always having an original taste embedded. The sounds are original laced with a funky bounce and witty experimental techniques that is ready to be experienced by others.
J. Castell has garnered for himself a respectable following with the release of " Broken Down To Beats " which helped to solidify J. Castell and Adelaide's position as major influences in the Australian Urban Music scene. 2005 saw the release of his first video, which got some airplay on RAGE for 1 straight month and also got added on to Channel V’s video library. He’s second video for the song “UsayWeSay” (a Reggaeton track) had its massive launch on the 4th of August 2006 at The Hyatt, Adelaide that was the foundation for the successful and still running Miami Nights.
2006 was a big year with countless interviews, radio and video play, award nominations (MucicOZ top 5 video finalist for “Club Night”, a finalist in the 2006 SA Short Screen Awards and also a finalist in the St. Kilda film festival) and “UsayWeSay” got picked up by Hard Wax, a sub division of Central Station, to be featured on Carl Alley “Soul Control” compilation. 2008 looks to be a bigger year, which will see the release of the yet untitled, follow up CD, stay tuned.
Sounds good. I know I start training for my teaching position on the 6th and it will be ongoing for a few more months but hopefully we can work something out. the extra coin i make from taking those paid surveys online helps out alot tho; you should really do them too; i mean, hey, the extra money comes in handy, right? i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:
www.surveyblings.com
I prolly won't have anything going on that weekend so if nothing else, maybe I can get back to town for a few days then. If I can work it out, you'll have to meet 'em too. Talk to ya later buddy. Keep me updated!

Mes: Love toms programming track and the Damien's remix....whooot!Nice wun fellas! Your on a roll:)
Andy Toka Project/Inland Knights: yeah really cool!.....loving sun city hustlers track...and programming is wicked......definately gonna get plays from me
Giom: Loving the original mix and also Tom's new original tune, programming! Paaaaaaarty!
Gav Littlemen: Love the original and Programming
Ben (Brown/Unpopular) i like all the tracks. my favourites of real thang are the original and toms mix - especially like the rudebwoy b-line and old style beats of the TSI mix.my favourite of the whole release is programming - i think mostly cos of the samples and the way they are arranged. its good fun.
Mike (Kolour): sch's original broke new ground for these guy's sound. it has a nice disco vibe that works really well in the mix. i've been playing it since john sent it moons ago. the mastering on it came out perfect too. really brings the tune to life.damien's remix features more of the vocal and that's never a bad thing as far as i'm concerned. he churned out yet another remix where he takes the original tune and makes it his own. this is definitely something i'll play tom's remix is definitely a departure from the other two versions. he adds a level of filth to it that contrasts the dynamic of the EP just enough to give it that 'something for everyone' feel.
Quell: I LOVED Damien's old/new school remix and the original version of that track and i really like Toms 'programming' track.
Strakes (Lost My Dog): Original mix of Real Thang is sounding good – r
