Sounds Like The Skinny - Gillian Watson
''If H&M made indie bands, they'd be like Boycotts (**). There isn't a hair or note out of place, and while their new-wave-rock is competent, it's also hopelessly sterile. Plus, if you drank every time the singer artfully ran a hand through her fringe, you'd be steaming by the end of the first number.''

The Scotsman - David Pollock
"For a group that's relatively young, Boycotts are almost unnaturally well formed, with an urgent indie sound that's surely only a bit of spit and polish away from being chart ready. In Twee they also have a singer who is possibly more adept on stage than even she realises, an all-posing, all-dancing, yet still controlled performer who has a little of the Clare Grogans about her."

The List - Neil Cooper
"Just when you think you’ve got this Glasgow four-piece nailed as an abrasively angular, art school outfit, the pixie-booted minx bopping about onstage opens her cheeky gob and takes you by surprise. The sound emanating from knowingly named Stina Twee sounds like the spirit of long lost indie pin-up Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays distilled through a post Penetration Pauline Murray and melodies by Morrissey that drive and soar off somewhere out the ordinary." "Musically, Boycotts provide a relentlessly taut backdrop to such bittersweet colouring, with bass notes zapping out from the sculpted guitar patterns in a manner that recalls the post-punk structures of Life Without Buildings. Here, though, Ms Twee is less freeform, more straight-ahead in vocal stylings which rise and fall across the tunes’ more urgent intentions. At their most accomplished such a counterpoint makes for a healthy creative tension that should be pushed further. It’s early days yet for Boycotts, but it’s clear the game they’re playing is a whole lot livelier than cricket. Just say yes."

Sunday Mail - John Kelly
Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh January 31
"Everything is in place for this young Edinburgh quartet to be a big success. The Three boys create an urgent, jangling indie sound, particularly on stand-out tracks This is Not a Play Fight, Beat on the Dancefloor and Scarper! But they remain in the background next to singer Stina Twee, who has the style and voice to suggest she'll be doing this for a long time."

Daily Record - Bryan Quinn
Boycotts - 'Luella and Lies'
"Impressive burst of guitar pop that comes in just over the magic three minute mark. Full of infectious energy and lively guitars, the track sees singer Stina Twee tell a tale of teenage romance. "

   About Boycotts
Photobucket

"Josef K, David Dunsmuir and Graham Young provide the exciting playground of music for highly accomplished and irrepressible firecracker Stina Twee’s lead vocals. This Glasgow band is sure to enthral and delight you – with the odd cheeky slap to keep you interested. Introducing - Boycotts" The List - Drew Spencer

Boycotts played their first gig in the summer of 2008. By the end of the summer they had recorded their first demo, played a number of Scottish dates and been voted runners up Artist of The Month @ King Tuts "Your Sound" event. Since then the band have played a live session on Vic Galloway's Radio 1 show, opened Stag and Dagger Festival and supported acts such as Cage The Elephant, Art Brut, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cursive and The Thermals. Recently the band recorded their debut E.P @ Chem19 with producer Andy Miller. The E.P was released on August 15th 2009 through What If Music & Sony ATV. The next few months will see the band play a number of club nights across Scotland followed by a British tour and possible festival appearances in the New Year. realeditorbest profile toolsrealeditorbest profile tools
