Blurbs

About me:

Please join and support the Global Anti-Hunting Coalition

I was transplanted here, in southwest Florida when I was about to turn 16, originally born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Honestly, I didn't know what to think about this area at first. Everyone was so nice, simple and polite back then that it threw me off for a while. It was very strange to me and I did not handle it well. Normally, I was used to hostile rude people, sarcastic remarks and witty insults living in the New York area, and I was in shock. I had a very large chip on my shoulder back then, but thankfully I began to grow up as many do not. After graduating high school and bouncing between New York/New Jersey, Orlando and southern California for some years, I finally realized I was missing out on the paradise that was right under my nose all along, the beautiful blue and tropical waters of southwest Florida. I do admit that in reality, this is a slightly cultural deficient area, but the pure untouched paradise that underlies it is enough to make me never want to leave again, certainly not on a permanent basis. I lived the city life...never again. The only things I miss about New York are the museums...Natural History, all the little art galleries in SOHO and maybe a bit of the feeling during the holiday season.
I am against drugs in general and do not use them. I however do not judge anyone for what they do so long as it harms no one else and even though I do not use it, I believe marijuana should be legalized. Truly, all drugs should be legalized to a degree. Powders have killed some of my friends over the years, but I still think that if someone wants to waste themselves, they should be allowed to do so. I see pot as no threat to anyone. I have never known anyone to smoke a blunt and then go on an insane rampage killing anything with the exception of a bag of Doritos. I enjoy my roller blades. I love the ocean and the beach is huge in my life. It gives me energy just to wade in the water and soak up the sun. The summer and 90+ degrees suits me just fine. Dancing has always been something that is a part of who I am and I have always felt music. I am a comic and Star Wars fanatic since I have had consistent memory. Batman, Wolverine, the Joker, Luke Skywalker and every Miami Dolphin have always been my childhood heroes. I want to enjoy life as much as I can and I am just as comfortable at a club as I am chillin' out watching a movie at home with loved ones. I am pretty laid back and enjoy the company of real people. Fortunately, this area has many good and very real people. My family is extremely important to me, and I am not phony with anyone, ever. Obviously, the environment and wildlife are of great importance to me. The pictures in my paradise album are from about 50 yards from my parent's front door...and I would like it to stay the way it is. If you would like to know me better, just write me. I will give anyone a chance and my heart is where it belongs...where everyone can see it. Everyone who knows me, knows this. I always write, live and speak from my heart.
I am spiritual and do believe in a God, but I am not fanatical. For me, God is love and it is just that simple. My view of God more so resembles the love of the "one true god" or the "Grandfather" that the native Americans believe in, however I do celebrate Christianity and its holidays.
I love all animals, nature and wildlife. Please never ask me to kill anything that I don't have to. If an insect, lizard, snake, rat, mouse or spider gets in the house, please do not squash it in front of me, I will put it outside...thank you :-) Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World Orlando are among some my favorite places on Earth.
My main goal here on the web is not only to do whatever I can to raise global awareness but also to help bridge the gaps that lie between the different environmental & animal rights groups/organizations. I personally believe that this is the key to success in all our endeavors. We need to start working together for the common goal & greater good as we are quite fractured. As my friends know, I am partial to marine wildlife conservation. The main reason for this has been my great love for whales & dolphins since childhood. The grace, beauty & vast intelligence of these creatures has always fascinated me. The more that I learned about what we have been doing to them, the less I have understood my own race. The images that we see in pictures & on video are just a glimpse of the brutality mankind has to offer our loving & peaceful animal companions. The second reason I focus myself on marine wildlife is because ALL life begins & began in the oceans and quite frankly, without a tropical, clean beach nearby, I am simply unhappy.
No matter how you view humanity, we are a destructive force to our world as well as ourselves. If the continued rape of our wildlife & environment does not end soon, there will be no turning back for us & there will be nothing left for our children, nor our childrens' children & so on. Our world's governments have sat idly by allowing the slaughter of marine life to continue for far too long even though laws exist to protect it.
What we do as a civilization to the creatures of this planet as well as the environment every day is a travesty. We must realize that ALL creatures are part of our very fragile ecosystem which has become more fragile than ever. I do cry every time I watch the images we see in such videos as Earthlings and the like, but I choose to see it as well as that of animal testing and many other unspeakable acts of violence/destruction that our race commits.
It is very easy for so many to turn it off. We can pretend it does not exist or does not affect us or our world. I do not believe in living life with blinders on. I would rather know and make an attempt to make a difference, a real change for the better. If we do not start altering our ways and begin to repair the destruction we have caused, we will see the death of our world from the repeated rape we have forced upon it. The biggest cancer I see in our society today is our indifference, our apathy. Every link that falls from the food chain is another added to the noose around our own throats. Just look below. Our clock is ticking.

I thank you for your precious time in reading my words. All of you who have taught me so much about what is happening in our world today & what can be done to stop it, I thank you from my heart. Your strength...standing together in the face of brutality & indifference gives me hope.

Who I'd like to meet:

Those of you who are my friends, my colleagues of sorts in this fight to save ourselves and every individual who has given me moral/emotional support over the years from afar...you are the ones I would like to meet. You are my stars and my heroes.
I truly love you all.

Too often have I wretched over watching video depicting or learning of the brutal slaughter of many species at the hands of uncaring and unscrupulous men. However, it was not initially my main goal to try and convince all of you to stop eating meat or to stop buying items from specific corporations as I know so many of you can not take such steps either as of yet or ever. I have been doing my very best to remain realistic with my intentions. Many of you who may be reading this eat meat, always have and possibly(I use the word instead of probably out of hope) always will. I can not agree with the slaughter of animals, but I can not give grief to every person I know in my life because they are in fact meat eaters. This has always been my view and I believed firmly that everyone was entitled to their choices and opinions. Unfortunately, our choices have placed us on the brink of self destruction and the problem with opinion is that it seldom resembles or coexists in harmony with fact. The fact is that there are just too many of us, most of which are unwilling to make any form of sacrifice at the expense of personal comfort in the name of ecology. Our current "needs" now far exceed what our planet is capable of providing for us.
It is a difficult endeavor and usually much more expensive to shop only in certain places which you know are environmentally friendly. If you left your home with a list of twenty items you needed to purchase and made it a point to buy from stores other then Wal-Mart, you might have to make several stops in order to procure them. In comparison, Wal-Mart would probably stock nineteen out of those twenty items and also at a competitive price. I can not deny this, but I also can not deny that the Wal-Mart company is in direct responsibility for the death of much marine wildlife, and I am not speaking only of fish. Currently Wal-Mart holds stock in an Asian version of itself that has dolphin and whale meat on its shelves. The Japanese so called "research" vessels that the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society confronts and battles each whaling season no doubt play a role in stocking those shelves.
What about the clothes we buy and where do we take our loved ones out for meals? We want to conform to the spring fashions and have family dinners, do we not? Who is to blame when companies like Dolce and Prada, or restaurant chains like Red Lobster and the Outback Steakhouse purchase from the same sources that bludgeon baby harp seals to a bloody pulp? Is it the consumer who is at fault for not knowing? The truth is that if I sat here dedicating all of my time to researching and listing every company with blood stained hands I would probably be here for months without sleeping much in between going to work.
The mere fact that there are still humans harpooning whales, clubbing seals and hacking up dolphins for meat is absurd and horrific. In my naivety as a teenager and a younger man in my early twenties, I was under the impression that this had, for the most part stopped. I thought that the slaughter was more isolated. It was only until more recent years that I found out this was still happening on a mass scale. May any god you wish to believe in forgive me for thinking that we had surpassed the stone ages of our existence because by my standards, we have not even come close. Our oceans are the cradle of life and we are defiling them with sludge and brutal butchery.
Our lust for oil and our waste has devastated the planet in immeasurable ways. What do you truly know about global warming? Even if you subscribe to the theory that we are not the sole cause, proof that we have significantly contributed to it and accelerated its process is everywhere. Our apathy and our importance placed on personal comfort can also be seen in simple statistics. Most people do not even realize that if everyone on Earth simply switched their light bulbs to fluorescent, a technology that has been with us for about 100 years or so when Tesla invented it, we would be pouring out only a fraction of the greenhouse emissions that have been deteriorating our ozone all of these years. Thus far only about two percent of the world's population have switched over. That piece of knowledge alone fills me with shame.
We as a race have already passed the crossroads and there were only two paths. Sadly, we have always been walking the wrong one. The current state of the world reflects the truth of the matter and recorded history is a testament to our apathetic nature and brutality. However, the path we did not choose is still there waiting for us. It is a daunting road, I would not try to deceive you. We have walked our current path for far too long and gotten quite lost in the process. Finding the correct path will be hard enough and walking it will be all the more difficult because of what has been ingrained into us. Even if all of our wrongs were righted tomorrow, all species on Earth, including ourselves, will still be headed for frightening times in the near future and it will only get worse the longer we do nothing to change our ways.
In letters that some of us wrote in "08" to Anthony Marr(president and founder of H.O.P.E.) for him to present to Secretary General Ban Kai-Moon of the United Nations in an effort to shift global military funding towards environmental issues, we spoke directly of our dire situation. We as humans have become a disease, a viru upon our living planet. If that statement strikes you offensively then you are not looking at the big picture and pleas do not give up on me yet, as I have not given up on you. In the defense of all humans, my letter also spoke of the great beauty that we are capable of creating. The truth is that we in fact not only could become the cure to the illness that we have caused but we can evolve into something much greater. I have such faith in that, in all of you, whether you believe me after reading my words or not, it is absolute truth. I have faltered many times, myself. I know that I have lost hope in and patience with all of humanity, but in the end, hope and faith in my own kind is what drives me to keep doing what I do.
I know what beauty lies in the human heart. I have seen it in my life among my family and friends. It has been shown to me by all of the selfless souls I have come to know in my dealings within these circles of change. It exists in heroes, the great men and women of the past and present who stood and stand for the preservation of life. The message here is simple. Now is the time for us to look within our hearts and find something more then what we have allowed ourselves to be. Evolution will proceed with or without human beings and we must decide in which direction it will take us. Does it really matter what label of god you subscribe to or which universal accident made us the amazing creatures that we are? All that matters is that we are all one race which actually has the capacity to choose its own fate. For a positive change to happen, we must each take a more serious look at our responsibility in spreading awareness to others. Together as a global family, we must stave off indifference, greed and ignorance.
Please join us, all advocates of wildlife conservation, environmental awareness and global reform in our efforts to stop the atrocities that we ourselves have afflicted upon the world. Help us to educate the masses and change the direction in which we are headed. Aid us in saving the human race from itself.

  • Music

Music is a passion. I love Funk, Rap, Hip-hop, Regge, Soul, Blues, Techno, Ambient, Metal, Thrash, Punk, New Age, Old Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative, Industrial, Classical, Jazz...anything and everything but not much Country. I love Sade and the beach together, it makes life worth living. Some great R&B like Marvin Gaye, Roy Ayers, Luther Vandross...or maybe New Age like Enigma, Enya and Tori Amos.
  • Movies

The Divinci Code, Angels and Demons, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Dune, Star Trek, National Treasure, Harry Potter, Hellboy, Time Bandits, Master & Commander, Predator, 300, Johnny Mnemonic, The Matrix, The Prestige, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Fifth Element, Labyrinth, The Mummy, The Dark Crystal, Legend, Alien, Iron Man, X-Men, The Dark Knight, Fantastic Four, Jurassic Park...just to name a few. All movies made by Quenton Tarentino and M. Night Shyamalan.
  • Television

The Discovery, Science, History and Sci-fi channels are really all that interest me on TV besides Animal Planet. I do not have shows that I regularly watch. Who has the time for that? I would rather live my life. That does not mean I wouldn't enjoy quiet nights at home, cuddling on the couch watching movies. That is living. Of course I loved Steve Irwin, a great soul. Les Stroud...the original "Survivorman"...major respect. Anything documentary about current, past and possible future life here on Earth or anywhere else...SHARK WEEK RULES! Life After People and various shows on the History channel. Other then that, I generally like movies better then T.V.
  • Books

Have read many books. By the time I was a teenager I had already read everything in the horror section(Steven King, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, Wes Craven and anything else I could get my hands on)written for the prior ten or fifteen years at any Waldenbooks store in New York/New Jersey. Dante and Shakespeare's works are still masterpieces that stand the test of time. They have always inspired me. So have Frank Herbert's books on the epic "Dune". When a true writer writes, his/her heart pours out what is inside and it conveys so much more then speech ever could.

"I will not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. Fear is the little death that brings total Oblivion. I will not permit my fear to pass over me and through me. And where it has gone I will turn the inner eye. Nothing will be there. Only I will remain." ---Frank Herbert
  • Heroes

My heroes are all the people that I love. Thank you for giving me reason and purpose to continue living. Without you, I would have been gone long ago. Batman for being fearful of nothing but himself. The Jedi Knights. Men like Robert Gould Shaw who were given everything and traded thier lives for a belief in what is right. the late Steve Irwin, the Sea Shepherd crew. the ALF, Anthony Marr, Charlie Chaplin, Sammy Davis Jr., Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Michael (Boogaloo Shrimp aka Turbo)Chambers and anyone in the service of animal rights and ecologic protection.

The song Dream Weaver has been criticized for being "spacey" and "trite", but in this video, it is solemn as an anthem, and profound as a hymn.

    Life......

    I am the new year.
I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living.

I am your opportunity to practice
what you have learned about life
    during the last twelve months.

    All that you sought
and didn't find is hidden in me,
waiting for you to search it out
    with more determination.

All the good that you tried for
    and didn't achieve
    is mine to grant
when you have fewer conflicting desires.

All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do,
all that you hoped but did not will,
all the faith that you claimed but did not have --
    these slumber lightly,
    waiting to be awakened
by the touch of a strong purpose.

    I am your opportunity
to renew your allegiance to Him who said,
"behold, I make all things new."
    I am the new year.

    HAVE A WONDERFUL 2010!!!

    LOVE YOU ALWAYS

What bounces up and down at 100mph?
A hunter tied to the back of a truck.

What's red, screams and goes around in circles?
A hunter with its foot nailed to the floor.

What's more fun than strapping a hunter to a clothesline and then spinning it around at 100 mph?
