State of Illusion have been known live by the motto “go big or go home”. After all, shows with the likes of major label artists Chevelle and Staind (their largest musical influence), 2 full length albums (2007's In My Mind and 2008's In the Presence of Shadows), and a knack for putting on big production shows have given State of Illusion a name for themselves as one of the most hard working, driven, professional, and talented up and coming rock bands around.
Hailing from Greenville, SC, State of Illusion find it difficult to make any entrance into the music industry. That is why they work twice as hard as any other band to make themselves known. Their sound is comprised of various musical backgrounds. Drummer Chet Whigham has gone to school for jazz drumming and has played drums all of his life, giving him the ability to play nearly any style of music or any fill imaginable. Chase Medlin (bass) grew up listening to a blend of classic rock, modern rock, metal and beach music, giving him a well-rounded perspective on how the music should sound. Lead guitarist Zakk Young draws on the influence of classic rock, metal, and the blues (sometimes simultaneously intertwining all three) for both his leads and his song writing. Jacob Porter (vocals/guitar) relies on his abilities to continuously write quality songs with depth, over which he can go from a softly sung verse to a soaring, emotion filled chorus in an instant. With memorable melodies, meaningful lyrics, powerful choruses and a perfect mix of heavy and acoustic rock, State of Illusion have what it takes to become to become America’s next big rock act.
State of Illusion’s newest single, “Find Yourself”, is destined to be a radio hit. With its melodic verses, heavy bridge filled with angelic vocal harmonies, and huge, anthemic choruses, “Find Yourself” will have music fans begging for more. Upon delving deeper into State of Illusion’s catalog, listeners will find a mix of soft and heavy rock. From the volley of the clean vs. heavy verse pattern of “Blind”, to the breath-taking, acoustic-based “Casey”, to the hard hitting fan favorite “Drown in Flames”, State of Illusion offer a little something for everyone.
With over four years of hard work, dedication, professionalism, and experience, State of Illusion prove time and time again that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Now I have been trying to do that for awhile. (Spreading the word that is) I remember trying my best to get jesters pub to give you guys a email for the longest time, ever since I saw you guys at the chevelle/staind concert. So you know I am still trying just alittle hard after you guys came up here and did it for yourself. lol. Good to here that everything is working out on your guys side.
I have been doing good. I finally got a job after like 4 months of the horrible economy but I got one. I am working at Macy's now so I would say I am happy just to be lucky. Oh I also start school on the 23 of this month. It is a mini mester but nothing wrong with getting my foot in the door. Other then that all is well.
I def will keep looking for new material. I still think blind is your best. But you guys keep up the good work and keep trying. Dont be one of those bands that have the skills to make it big then just throw it all away.
