Sunshine state is the production alias for Birmingham based DJ & Producer, Edward Ryan. Ed is a recent graduate of Music technology & Audio Systems Design at Derby University, where he learnt rather a lot about music production & equipment. Ed has a passion for house and electronic based music in general, now that he has finished his academic studies he is looking forward to getting on with his own projects. Originally the idea was to have two people working, but Ritchie Barthez was too busy to really get involved (the door is still open mate. Shout up when you're free!).
Recent remixes include Peyton, Deepswing, Nicole Tyler, Clyde & Phoebe 1, with further work (hopefully) coming for Phonetic records this summer. Sunshine State has no specific styles or genre boxes and this will be reflected in the sound. The aim is to tease and surprise without getting repetitive. Each track is started from scratch to ensure that they all have different feels to them. The only thing that they should share is a feelgood factor of +10.
Further to his independent work as a remixer & producer, Ed is also an experienced studio technician and engineer. He has experience in commercial scale studios and can also use most major software platforms including Cubase, Logic and Protools (101 & 110 certified).
Due to a monumental hard-drive failure, the first 4 solo tracks were lost. Ed is currently working on new material, the first track being 'Lets Bounce' which is due for release in Mid-July on the newly formed Sunshine State Records..
Keep 'em peeled folks. There's lots more to come !
Following his recent blinding B-Bar set at the Southport Weekender, Days Like This are pleased to welcome Zed Bias ( Sick Trumpet ) alongside Carlos Vargas ( Deep and Soul Project, Portugal ) and residents Gary Ward, Charles John & DJ Euge. Its also my birthday so hope to see you there !
