Some kind words:
"On first look Static in the City don't seem like a hip indie rock band, but by god do they sound like one. Their instantly accessible and memorable spikey songs are born to be played on the radio. Set closer "An Unseen Truth" brings together all their qualities, beginning with a jangly intro before soaring into a mesmerising mix of guitars and drums." - T Break review, May 2008
"There's a keen sense of exploration here that one finds in all the stars of tomorrow at their most pure and raw. This is one of the bands that runs on enthusiasm and the aural effects are pure exhilaration. The tracks seem to slam into one another, causing masses of exciting sparks in-between...they're onto a winner!" - Is This Music? Dec 2008
"Sometimes a band just sound right. Like it seems the band members just work together and sometimes just clicks. Aberdeen based Static in the City is one of those bands. The music just flows, it doesn't sound too try-hard or forced, it just sounds natural. The tracks don't automatically blow you away but there's an understated brilliance. Shattered Hearts is the standout track with its soaring guitars and lead singer Andrew Burden's captivating vocals." - Music News Unsigned Jan 2009
“An Unseen Truth” plays easily; the five tracks have bouncy rhythms, melodic tunes and a jangly indie edge that holds a twang of melancholy. The title track ‘An Unseen Truth’ is possibly the best one here, a touch more memorable than the rest and with a more anthemic feel. The vocals throughout are sweet and the production very fuzzy and lo-fi, but that suits these wistful songs very well, because they have something about them that harks back to 90s indie-rock; the distorted bass, so-jangly-it-almost-hurts guitars, tambourine and drowsy vocal delivery might have something to do with it, (to emphasise the point ‘W.Y.N.’ is reminiscent of early Primal Scream in their “Sonic Flower Groove” days). Final track ‘Shattered Hearts’ is another really good one; crashing and ascending drums and guitar added to catchy vocals makes it a great way to finish.” - Roomthirteen Jan 2009
