Currently, the members are: Steve on Vocals, Tim on Guitar, and Drum Machine on Drums. Steve says he found a bass player, but Mr. Mystery Bass Player and Tim haven't met yet, so in the meantime Tim plays bass on all the recordings here. The drums sound like shit because Drum Machine hasn't been showing up for rehearsals and has developed a drinking problem. Oh, and he can't comprehend anything more than a basic 4/4-time alternating rhythm. So we basically have to upload tiny segments of drum machine, then splice-and-dice-'em to fit the right time frame. It's tiring work, but it gives us the best sound possible with our current equipment.
Influences
Static Martyr (and its comprising members) has/have been influenced in some way or another by the following bands/artists: Bad Religion, NOFX, Dead Kennedys, Alkaline Trio, Ramones, Sum 41, Green Day, The Offspring, The Descendents, Minor Threat, Cracker, Collective Soul, The Bottle Rockets, Nine Inch Nails....the list goes on, but hopefully you get the idea. This list will expand as time goes on, as Static Martyr likes to buy new albums a lot, and will probably be influenced by one or more of those albums.
Sounds Like
Absolute shit. For reals; Static Martyr sounds like all of their songs were recorded from inside of a trash can. Hopefully this will improve if they ever get on an "actual" record label with "real" recording equipment (real =/= major, by the way). But as far as genre, I guess you'd call Static Martyr punk with blues, or something, because they play punk-like songs while utilizing a blues scale or some derivitive thereof. Yeah, probably punk/blues/instrumental. If there was more guitar soloing/technicality you could call them metal, but they don't play a WHOLE lot of that (though they are known to indulge in the "metal" from time to time). Think "NOFX meets Sum 41 meets Bad Religion meets The Offspring meets some other band or other," except not really like that at all.
Static Martyr is a band that plays some music. The music often sounds like shit because the only recording equipment available consists of a three-microphone mixer, a single microphone, and CoolEdit. But Static Martyr has been assured that this apparently makes them "more punk," and so people will like them anyway. Hopefully. Uploaded some new songs in the last week or so; just as a reminder, these are *demo tracks,* not the final works. We simply don't have enough money or equipment (or band members) to fully produce complete songs at the moment. Think of it like Collective Soul's album 'From The Ground Up'; it's just a bunch of examples, rough ideas of what we hope they'll sound like in the future. Just lyrics, simple instrumentation, and a basic song structure, nothing more.

Our towns parallel each other, then. There's literally one punk band gigging in this town, and mine ain't it. They're terrible, too. We do battle of the bands in Nov, so I'm hoping to take the city by storm from then...
