The group’s roots start back in 2007, when singer/guitarist Antonio Irizarry and lead guitarist Gabe Ibagon met, and after realizing they had a mutual love of rock, they decided to try to make music together. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding other members that would complete their band, drummer Mike Torres and bassist Corey Sherman came into the equation, adding a powerful and tight rhythm section. Static on the Airwaves draws influence ranging from Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, Senses Fail, Rise Against, and many others. They aspire to find the right balance between hard hitting punk and alternative rock, without forgetting to be melodic at the same time. During the May of 2009, Static on the Airwaves headed to Small Room Studios with producer Ant Bilancia to record their first EP, The Night in Flames.
