"Stayton has an artist's soul and a poet's eye. He's one of the most distinctive writers I've heard in a long time." Hayes Carll
"Stayton Bonner is a bona fide east Texas wolfman - he writes songs with a free spirit and a wild heart."

Stayton Bonner is an Austin-based singer/songwriter who will tour to any beerjoint where people are looking to have a good time with some live music. Whether it's his solo show or with a band, Bonner tries to put on a gig that's more interesting than whatever the bar's flatscreen is showing at the moment. This endeavor can be heavy competition at times due to college football championships or an AMC special, but he feels confident in the human need to hear live music. Since placing 2nd out of over 350 entries in North Carolina's Merlefest songwriting competition in 2004, Bonner has seen it do very little for his career. When not playing music, Bonner can be found writing journalism, prose, or whatever else he can muster. In November 2006, Three Dog Press released "The Bookman", Bonner's biography on author Larry McMurtry. Bonner's newest album "Cadillac Road" was released in August 2007 on Blue Trout Records.

Hi Stayton, Just wanted to tell you how much i enjoyed listening to "Cadillac Road" on my recent road trip to Chicago & Glastonbury (CT). It is the perfect road tripping CD, especially when i am blasting it at 2 a.m. after being on the road 17 hours straight! Can really relate to some of the songs because i have traveled to the places you sing about or i have been trying to stay awake driving home after attending some of my son's and/or hunter's gigs. The Czech stop is always a must on any road trip north! Take care & keep writing/recording/performing your outstanding music! Sincerely, Siddy
Excellent. And while I'm here, must say that your Cadillac Road album cover sprawls. Could "70's Easy Listening" and "Time Away" possibly be Elizabeth and Eustace's alien love children?
Bonner- Sup? Man these Hardin House girls- whew. I think we've got that Valentine's party - maybe they want music. Let's form a band "The Cum Lately's" You me trent ben and we'll just do all the sexy swanky love songs we can think of. Anyway - We've got a 2 set deal @ 930-2 on thurs. at Bar PM which is right across the street from Campus. Friday is at a bar I don't know about but shit man- let's kick it. Where you stayin' the night?
I'll give you a call here pretty soon to see what's up in Lubbock town. We hit campus last time and got a lot of kids to come out. Thanks for comin' out to the show Saturday. Man you were cooked. Where'd the party start? .
