St Deluxe were formed by Jamie Cameron and Martin Kirwan. Sharing a love of indie ethics and ideals, vintage guitars and fuzz pedals, we decided to start up a band + record label.
Taking inspiration from bands like sonic youth, my bloody valentine, teenage fanclub, dinosaur jr, jesus and the marychain, spacemen 3, mudhoney, etc plus labels like creation, sst, sub pop, dischord..
we enlisted the help of some friends - stuart kidd on drums and Brian McEwan on bass complete the line up..
grundioso records have released three singles.. The Debut St Deluxe single 'Distant Light' and two of our series of Grundioso MAXI singles!!
MAXI I featured Duglas Stewart and the brides of Frankenstein (Duglas.. Norman Blake.. Francis MacDonald.. and Davie Scott..) the Starlets and st deluxe...
MAXI II featured our own St Deluxe and the magic of Music and Movement..
Distant Light was played by steve lamacq amongst many others and there are only a few copies left which can be purchased or downloaded here
take a look at our video for Crystals, the split single with the legend that is Future Pilot AKA out now on Aufgeladen und Bereit Records in germany and throughout the UK.. you can buy it herehere
here is the new video for the grundioso maxi single "stupid ideas"
St Deluxe have been included in the list of bands to watch out for in 2008 by the Daily Record!! here's what they said...
ST DELUXE
St Deluxe are another band who may be onthe left of the mainstream but with the new love of indie have every chance of breaking through. Mixing howling guitars and My Bloody Valentine-style vocals with the harmonies of Teenage Fanclub, the band, who are led by BMX Bandits regulars Jamie Cameron and Martin Kirwan, are already doing well in Germany.
We also received a 5 out of 5 live review for the support gig with Spectrum!
here it is...

St Deluxe have also been included in a few different compilation albums..
first of all the Bannermans compilation which was given out to 1000 new students in edinburgh, A live favourite "Stop Begin" was chosen for this comp...
then Japanese record Label "This Time Records" which was another free
give away which was posted out with every purchase from the label
Not only was the debut single "Distant Light" chosen for this comp
but a version of the BMX Bandits smash single "Serious Drugs" recorded
by St Deluxe and Duglas, and low and behold "Serious Drugs (2005 version)
was born..
Last but not least... "Aufgeladen und Bereit Records" Compilation which is out now and available here
"Get While the Getting's Good" borrowed from Orange Juice track
features some of the best talents that Scotland has to offer brought to you
by a German label... Grundioso Records also had a hand in organising an
all acoustic launch party at glasgows MONO which was a great success and
saw St Deluxe appear as Future Pilots AKA's backing band for the afternoon
as well as being joined by our special friend Duglas Stewart.
We'll be doing in city this month and after that we're over in Germany to support the split single with Future Pilot AKA. Here's a poster for one of the gigs we'll be doing.
We had a great time putting together this show with Spectrum and it was a great success!! Hopefully we can do it all again someday soon!
