Steamer - an acoustic trio playing Blues, Americana and some original songs along the south coast of England. A lively mix of songs, some of which were first played around 80 years ago when the blues was emerging from the Delta. Others will have been heard a little more recently, but the common theme is uptempo and upbeat with little of the misery, doom and gloom so often mistakenly associated with the genre. Steamer brings those songs to life with a tapping foot and a twinkle in the eye.
Stan on guitar and vocals, Helen on bass and Tom on djembe/cajon played at a volume level that doesn't offend the ears.
With songs from Sonny Boy Williamson, Big Bill Broonzy, Howling Wolf, Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Lazy Lester, Dr Feelgood, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Dylan, and many more.
Formed in January 2011 from the core of a bigger blues band, Steamer continues to explore new venues and is a popular choice for both pub gigs and festivals. offering quality live music with professionalism and reliability. Steamer played at Swanage Blues Festival and The Great Dorset Steam Fair in 2011 and were delighted to be asked to return again in 2012.
With a compact PA giving a small stage footprint and easily controllable volume levels, Steamer is an ideal choice for the smaller venues.
