"The universe is a big thing"
It is pretty hard to describe what these four guys from austria are planning to do; nobody knows; are they trying to invent an intergalactic spaceship made out of vintage music instruments? What fuel would they use? Would it be worn out underwear? Could this work?
Maybe they do not even need a spaceship to reach the cosmos? Maybe they have already been there on vacation last summer? Who knows?
As far as their music is concerned, I guess they already took a trip to outer space.
How else could you explain songs like "karate party"?
Well, here is what the band has to say about this:
"We had a vision of Frank Zappa meeting The White Stripes on a hidden planet; when they where about to leave the planet with their transporter, they became one persona; this bad ass gave us the idea to make this ep; he also told us, if we don..t make a good track out of it, he will beat the hell out of us with sputnik, really bad..."

Ehe wir uns in überfrachteten Beipackzetteln verlieren, gleich vorweg:
Die Jungs von Steaming Satellites denken ein wenig anders. Um zu verstehen, was in ihren abgespaceten Synapsen vor sich geht, müsste man sich mit einem Katapult ins nächstgelegene Sonnensystem befördern lassen und dort ordentlich einen draufmachen.
"The Universe is a pretty big thing", so auch die musikalische Bandbreite der Satelliten. Die vier "Sputniks" aus Österreich spielen oft und gerne mit Gegensätzlichkeiten; so kommen Songs zustande, von denen man den Eindruck bekommt, als hätten sich die White Stripes mit Frank Zappa zusammengewürfelt um gemeinsam eine kleine Supernova zu erschaffen.

Wenn Juri Alexejewitsch Gagarin noch am Leben wäre, hätte er bestimmt die Anfang September erscheinende Ep "Karate Party" produziert. Nicht nur das, er wäre sogar mit einer Vinyl Edition ins Outer Space geflogen und hätte sie dort promoted.

"Die Steaming Satellites aus Salzburg haben sicher eine gut sortierte Plattensammlung. Einflüsse von Rush über Pink Floyd bis in die Neuzeit zu Mars Volta und Dredg werden hier stilsicher zu einem wabernden Soundmix gestrickt. Vereinzelt gestreute Postrock-Einschübe treffen auf verträumte Vocals, alles sehr progressiv gehalten und handwerklich sehr gut umgesetzt."
... "Keinesfalls bestatten sollte man die Tatsache, diese Band live auszutesten. Im Vorprogramm von Oceansize zum Beispiel. Hoffentlich traut sich die Hauptband nach diesem Support überhaupt noch auf die Bühne zu gehen."

Hey there Steaming Satellites Just popped by to say hi and to say thank you for the friendship, it really means a lot to us. As with most Independent bands Myspace is definatelly the platform to meet new people and for everyone to be able to enjoy a wide and diverse genres of music, Some great music and some not so great, but either way, thanks to the Myspace medium we can all experience this without having the Major Labels brainwash us into buying manufactured rubish thats been played to death on commercial radio stations around the globe.. So there! Little me have had my say :)))))
