The timing was a bit bizarre but as the bells started to toll to bring in the New Year an agreement was struck between the two friends and James had a new mission... Unfortunately things didn't run too smoothly for a while, after recruiting like minded (or so he thought!) musicians to the fold initial rehearsals took place. For a while only drummer Phil shared the guys enthusiasm and commitment. Rhythm guitarists and keyboard players came and went and things started to look dire until Woody pitched up. Initially Woody auditioned as a rhythm guitarist and immediately got the job, fitting in well with the rest of the band and re-sparking the enthusiasm and drive. Then out of the blue the bassist at the time quit and it seemed like it was all back to square one as the hunt for a replacement proved fruitless. Just at the point where James was thinking that enough was enough and maybe this project just wasn't to be, Woody saved the day by relenquishing his preferred rhythm guitar and picking up the bass. STEELFIELD was at last up and running and the pace started to pick up, with a strong mix of keys and guitar JUDGEMENT DAY was brought to life followed quickly by FOREVER MORE and DEVIL'S DAUGHTER and with another original under thier belt and a strong set of covers they hit the road. The debut gig was a good success despite some horrendous sound gremlins beyond thier control but again disaster lay around the corner as the keys player decided to part company.... Spurred on by the bands reception from thier debut gig James was determined that this latest set back would not spell the end of all his and the rest of the guys hard work. He purchased a guitar synth, recruited a lead guitarist and STEELFIELD were quickly back in buisness with a raw and edgy progressive sound that went down a storm at the next gig. SLAVE TO THE STATE was born from Scott, the new guitarist and things were looking onwards and upwards.... Unfortunately fate reared it's ugly head again and due to circumstances beyond thier control STEELFIELD had to part company with Scott. A sad loss but the decision was quickly made to forge on as a 4 piece as gigs were booked and waiting, it was a tense moment and a make or brake scenario but the lads still went down a storm.... Now the current 4 piece line up currently holds fast and is becoming a dark edgy progressive metal band like no other....
