Steel Hollow's mission is to create their own sound, not imitate the popular. That having been said, all artists admire the works of others, and the members of this band are no exception. Each bring their own interpretations of the music that they have loved and integrated uniquely into their own style.
Mike and John Sullivan are profoundly influenced by their Celtic heritage and the haunting beats of this ancient music. Mike, their lead vocalist and guitarist, has always found southern, classic and new rock to speak most profoundly to his experiences in life. Bassist John has always preferred grunge, classic and southern rock. Drummer Joe DeThomaso is driven by the hard, raging sound of metal, but also by the work of classic drummers like John Bohnam, Neil Pert, Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. A compromise has been reached, however, and the result is the multi-faceted sound of "Steel Hollow".
Steel Hollow is a three piece hard rock act that was formed in March of 2006. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Steel Hollow has worked hard to build up their name and has become one of the most popular acts in the tri-state area. As well as packing venues in their hometown of Pittsburgh, Steel Hollow tours West Virginia, Ohio and surrounding areas as well. Born and raised on the mean streets of the "Steel City", two young brothers were influenced by a blue collar upbringing in a tight urban neighborhood. Drummer Joe, was born in LA and raised in Lawrence Cty., PA. with percussion in his blood. In 2006 when Mike and John Sullivan met up with Joe DeTomaso, the city and the rural melded to form a perfect "Steel Hollow". Now home-based in New Castle, PA. the band lives and breathes rock and roll and makes little spare time for anything else. What drives "Steel Hollow" is an energy derived of a lifetime of back-breaking work and love of music. You can hear all of this in each hard-hitting riff of their riveting songs. They welcome you to join in their journey to the top.
