Stefana Fratila was born in Sibiu, Romania but has lived in Vancouver, Canada for most of her life. At twelve, she began to go to all ages concerts and lie in the street with new friends, drunk on the phases of the moon and screamo rap from Toronto (see: Ninja High School).
When she was fifteen years old, she bought a boss br-600 (8-track digital recorder). Waking up from power-nap dreams of her grandpa giving her the perfect lightweight tape recorder, she spent schoolnights banging on glassware with her parents trying to sleep a thin wall away. Shows from February 2008 - September 2010 included backing members, irregularities, and surprise guests: Ellis Sam, Jonathan Scherk, Jessica Rae, MacRae Lawrie, Samuel Dzierzawa, Brock Edwards, Scott Milligan, Mara Rutka, & Jeff Johnson!
NOW AVAILABLE AS A FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD, "Grows Up" is a selection of previously-released songs recorded between August 2007 and May 2009.
The album is a not-so-long-ago audio representation of her high school state and the hours of stuffing a ukulele case in a locker or hiding amps in the film room. Her sixteen to seventeen year-old recordings mark the beginning and end to her pop ambitions, so delicately influenced by her sucking on nectarines in parks with a walkman in her coat pocket (cuz sometimes a gurrl needs a break from class).
Grows Up" (meant to be read as 'Stefana Fratila Grows Up') is a selection of songs recorded beneath the bed in a downtown chamber, released on individually handmade CD-Rs (artwork by Maryam Noorzai and Ellis Sam), put together in early morning art class and sold by night.

I was in Emperor Bulash if you ever checked them out. Two of our members moved to opposite ends of the continent after last year so the band as it was is finished now, but myself and the other remaining member in montreal are working on something new.
Awesome music, I've listened to your stuff before, I think Spencer showed me but just never got in contact. You know Akron/Family? kindof reminds me a bit.
