Stefan Filey is really a multi-talented artist. Song writer, arranger, producer and singer, this accomplished musician can do everything. Born in the seventies, he's been singing since he was 6 years old. West indians by blood and by soul, his music-loving parents very soon introduced him to motown artists as well as to blues and jazz. He experienced music for the first time at church.
In 1992, he founded the Sweetness band and took part in the « Francofolies de la Rochelle » where the band wins the « Discovery Of The Year » Prize. They are then invited to perform as opening part of Michael Jackson concert in Lausanne (Switzerland). During 6 years, they have been giving more than 300 concerts all over Europe. In the meantime, Stefan performs background vocals for artists such as Mariah Carey (at Bercy, Paris), Céline Dion (”World Music Awards” in Monte-Carlo). In 2000, after having spent several years with his band, Stefan decided to dedicate himself to his own career and to soul music, his true passion...
In 2001, he opened the George Benson show at the Olympia, Paris where he marked the beginning of a new era for french music. Indeed, he is one of the very first soul singers in France. Thus he can freely develop his music.
Fond of great singers such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Sly Stone, Al Green and Smokey Robinson, Stefan started to work on his first album, ”Soul Influence” which came out on the 19th february 2002 on Voix Publik Universal Label. This album made Mr Filey a precursor in a trend which has never been really developed in France. As a matter of fact, Stefan opened the doors wide for french soul singers who had been going through hell for years and who could thank to him finally draw the attention of majors and sign contracts. Then Stefan went on a show case Fnac tour to promote his album and performed as opening part of two american soul artists : Bilal and Angie Stone during their concerts at the Elysée-Montmartre, Paris.
Stefan Filey is now working on his second album and aims at sharing his french soul...
