Stefanie Jaye emerged as an artistic talent out of Berks County, PA but has made the great state of Delaware her home since 1994. Stefanie earned a BA in Theatre Arts from West Chester University with a concentration in Musical Theater. Her career in the arts spans over two decades in which she has worn the various hats of actress, singer, dancer, director, teacher, playwright, songwriter, and choreographer in many groups throughout the mid-Atlantic area including Acts 29, OperaDelaware, Best of Broadway, Broadway Bound, Surflight Theatre, Candlelight Dinner Theater, The Brandywiners LTD, Musical Artists Theatre, Act Out Theatre, Delaware Children's Theatre, and Yuletide Singers.
In 2002 Stefanie entered the music arena as a jazz vocalist. She and pianist David Zipse have been regular entertainment in Delaware Valley area including the Annual Rehoboth Autumn Jazz Festival at the famous End-of-Festival Jazz Jam restaurant, Just In Thyme for the past five years. She has recorded numerous Gershwin songs on Zipse’s “Tribute to Gershwin” CD. She also currently performs vocal jazz with The Harry Spencer Trio and was featured this past year with them at the Hartefeld Jazz Festival. Stefanie sings in the jazz duo Smooth Cocktail with horn player extraordinaire, Dan Collins. The past two years have included jazz performances at The Wedge, Deep Blue, The Dome, Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Ovations Jazz Club, Dove Valley Winery, Bordeleau Vinyards and Winery, and regular appearances at Bellefonte Café.
As a jazz performer Stefanie transitions well to live theatre as she has held leading lady roles in two recent Delaware productions. In 2007, Stefanie received standing ovations for her portrayal of Judy Garland in a show dedicated to Judy’s life. She also performed a sold-out evening of jazz last September in Milton Theatre’s “Tribute to Gershwin” with David Zipse and Jason Cook.
While Stefanie has entertained audiences both young and old, she will tell you that her favorite place to sing jazz is among her elders. She has held concerts at Heritage Assisted Living in Dover, The Methodist Country House in Wilmington, and the Milton Hattie Kutz Home, also in Wilmington, DE. She currently teaches both music and drama for VSA of Delaware including original programs that teach and encourage students to create their own musical compositions and choreography for performance.
Stefanie Jaye has been involved in the teaching of the arts in the areas of acting, musical theatre, improvisation, children's theatre, choreography, tap, ballet, and liturgical dance as well as vocal arts.
Stefanie is thankful for a life of many blessings. Her favorite CDs to listen to are hymns of worship that inspire her to continue to shine God's light to those around her. She resides in Middletown, DE with her husband Gary and their seven children.
