About me:
With each passing year, selling music products becomes ever more difficult. The bottom line costs of delivering those products are more important now than ever before.When advances in technology made it possible for studios to lower their prices several years ago, the indie music world breathed a collective sigh of relief. When mastering studios didn't follow suit, bands and labels began looking for other ways to get their mastering work done. Recording studios and manufacturing plants stepped in to fill that void, but the end results suffered.
When it comes to great mastering work, a dedicated specialist is a requirement. Steinhaus makes it possible to hire that specialist for a price that is TRULY affordable.
J Powell, owner and operator of Steinhaus Mastering, delivers fully mastered music products that are as exceptional as they are cost effective.
J began his music career as a member of mid-90's punk rock stalwarts, the Huntingtons. As the band began its natural wind down, J took his love and passion for making albums and began helping independent artists and labels. Coming from the indie music world himself, J knew cost was every bit as important as quality. He also knew he had both the tools and the talent to help the indies sound like the majors.
Post production, editing, noise reduction, normalization, EQing, compression, limiting, dynamics retention, crossfading, song title embedding, cd database submission...your recording will be loud, it will sound "big" and it will be "red book compliant" (ready for standard compact disc manufacturing). Steinhaus does all this for a price that is TRULY affordable.
RATES:
A recording with a single disc running time of less than 30 minutes is $100.
A recording with a single disc running time of 30 minutes or more is $200.
(Double discs are billed as two sessions.)
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the extra amount of work required, all compilation mastering sessions are $300 per disc.
RECORDING SOURCES ACCEPTED:
16, 24 or 32 bit data files (wav or aiff) or 16 bit cd audio.
FINISHED MASTER DELIVERED:
One finished Mitsui (MAM-A) Gold compact disc ready for manufacturing and one generic silver compact disc for reference. Discs are return mailed back to client no more than one day after the mastering session. Discs, paperwork and postage are included in the price quote above.
