In PAGAN HOLIDAY we toured most major
and some smaller cities across America. We networked
and played with many other bands and performers from
the riot grrrl scene in America. We used spoken word,
performance art and punk rock to address issues like;
domestic violence; sex industry workers human rights
issues; the reclamation of derogatory words used to
hurt women, eg., 'whore', 'slut', 'dyke', and of course
'girl'. We discussed transgender issues; homophobia;
racism; globalism; woman friendly spirituality; and
other pertinent issues.We booked & promoted our
own tours. We designed and made t-shirts, stickers, and flyers.
. I owned my own record
label under which we put out tapes and vinyls for our
band. These were distributed by K records, an independent
record label in Olympia Washington. Olympia was "ground
zero for the riot grrrl movement"(Juno, Hannah &
Pedersen[AnGrY WoMeN] 1996 p176). ************
