Operasinger breaking all the rules. No voice category applies. Not mezzo, not soprano, not colloratura, not tenor, not baritone... But I sing the repertory of all of them - simply doing it my way. And it does not harm the voice at all! :-)
In my recitals I usually play with Conny Antonov at the grand piano. Together wo do programs with gender and lgbt themes. Unusual for beeing a classically trained duo, don't you think? :-)
We have two recitals going. One about women through history dressing up like men, on stage or private. Music by, amongst others: Mozart, G. Mahler, Vaughan-Williams, Tchaikovsky, Hensel, Händel and Andrée.
And one about the struggle of being a female composer. Music by, amongst others: A. Mahler, N. Boulanger, Jeppsson, C. Schumann and Hensel.
A third one is on its way in this series of three. "Music from the closet" This theme is about some of the big artists and personalities in this world who where lesbian, gay, bi or trans and to whom we owe a lot, but we never talk about it. Music by, amongst others: Händel, Barber, Tchaikovsky, R. Schumann, Andrée and Poulenc.
