Stella defies categorization. Each band member brings a fresh plate of new ideas to each and every performance, creating an intoxicating recipe of progressive rock, funk, folk, pop, bluegrass, jazz, and worldly rhythms. Combine all of these genres with spontaneous jam sensibility and garnish with the sweetness of unique instrumental approaches and heavy hitting grooves Stella is sure to pull you on the dance floor. Together since 1994, the three core members of Stella, Dan Costello (vocals, guitars, guitar synth, and harmonica), Rob Hill (fretted, fretless, and upright electric basses), and Scott Lindbloom (drums, vocals, and guitar) create the power trio. More recently, Stella has been performing and writing with Vincent Miresse (percussion and didjeridu). With this addition Stellas sound and style has taken on world beat flavor, most specifically with the infusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz, and beyond.
Over the years of playing locally and statewide, Stella has shared a stage with Rebecca Scott, Marcus Eaton, Crash Four, The Jeremiah James Gang, and many other artists and bands Stella is proud to call friends. Stella has played a variety of stages in the Boise area, including the Boise River Fest, Alive after Five, The Eagle Island Experience Festival, The Bouquet, Tom Graineys, Sockeye Pub & Grill, The Reef, Satchels Grill, Bardenay- Eagle, the former Kulture Klatsch, many First Thursday venues, and more.
Stellas most representative times are during their live performances, which are the setting for intense improvisational tangents and uncanny sixth sense musical mind reading episodes between the band members. As a rule of thumb, Stella strives to keep the music fresh for the listener and to radiate energy back to the audience.
