Sten Isachsen has forged a career as solid as the Adirondack Mountains from which he hails. Classical string music, bluegrass, and twangy telecastings all eminate from his studio. Recently, he expanded his interest beyond performance to bring high quality, low budget recording services to Upstate New York. He is student and teacher, listener and performer, engineer and producer, a sympathetic friend of great music and rock solid axman.
Whether performing in hallowed concert halls or providing the polished musical acoutrement for a special event, Sten brings skill and and his living for the moment attitude to create music that is as lasting and timeless.
Sten Yngvar Isachsen performs extensively as a solo artist, giving concerts in such venues as the The Adirondack Center for the Arts at Blue Mountain Lake, Troy Music Hall, Ithaca College, Eastman School of Music, Hyde Museum, College of St. Rose and the University at Albany. Isachsen has appeared as concerto soloist with the University at Albany Orchestra and the Ithaca College String Quartet. Isachsen holds a Bachelor and Master of Music in Guitar Performance from Ithaca College, an Associates in Music from Schenectady County Community College, and has studied guitar with Frederick Hand, Ed Flower and Joel Brown. He has participated in master classes with Manuel Barrueco, Sergio and Odair Assad and Benjamin Verdery. Isachsen is a founding member of the Finger Lakes Guitar Quartet, which has commissioned works from Anthony Holland. Isachsen is also a member of the Musicians of Ma'alwyck, 2003-2004 string trio in residence at both the Schuyler Mansion and New York State University at Albany. A dedicated teacher, Isachsen is member of the faculty at Schenectady County Community College, St. Rose College and the University at Albany.

Hello! Passing out some show info for shows we have in the Albany area this weekend:
Ben Karis-Nix and band will be playing two shows in their native Albany. Now dubbed the 'Lightning Strikes Twice' tour, these dates are in support of two excellent respective causes: Fire relief and Rock. *New show details appear below*
1/18 - Tonight: Valentine's Music Hall (17 New Scotland Ave., Albany, New York 12207) featuring The Spike Emerson Society, BKN, and 28N closing the night (www.myspace.com/28n). The aim of this show is the more ignoble of the two; the melting of the face and forcible sock ejection.
1/20 - Sunday: Tess's Lark Tavern (453 Madison Ave., Albany, NY 12210) This event is a benefit for Eric and Karen Buckley (www.myspace.com/buckleybenefits) who lost all of their worldly possessions in a recent house fire. BKN at 4:15 PM. Many, many more performers!! For a list of performers & set times check out www.myspace.com/buckleybenefits.
We hope to see you there!
