The Hollywood Reporter has called Stephanie Bennett “one of our country’s top harpists”. Awards include First Prize in the Salvi International Competition of Jazz & Pop Harp. She has performed in the United States, Switzerland, France, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Uruguay and Ecuador, including solo harp performances for the Harp Society of the Australian Capitol Territory; the International Music Seminars in Montpelier, France; and the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
Stephanie has also played harp onscreen in television, music videos and films, appearing with Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood, Aerosmith, John Tesh, and Bette Midler.
She has produced and released 3 compact discs consisting of her original compositions. Two are all instrumental; the third one features Stephanie singing original children's songs (for which she wrote both music and lyrics), accompanying herself on various harps, including Celtic harp, wire-strung folk harp, and electro-acoustic pedal harp with digital effects. In addition, she is currently producing a series of relaxation music CDs for the ‘At Peace’ record label.
Stephanie has also played harp on the recordings of many other artists, including Sir Paul McCartney, Linda Ronstadt, the Dixie Chicks, LeAnn Rimes, the Ray Conniff Singers, and Spongebob Squarepants.
Stephanie Bennett is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, where she studied composition with Pulitzer Prize winner Leslie Bassett, and studied harp with Salzedo protégée Ruth Dean Clark. She has pursued further study at Grove School of Music (courses in Advanced Modern Harmony, Composition and Arranging) and at UCLA Extension (Film Scoring).
Having grown up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Stephanie now lives in the Los Angeles, CA area, where she enjoys caring for her cats, teaching several harp students, playing at various glamorous events, and continuing to compose, arrange and record music in her home studio.
