"Imagine Tom Waits reincarnated as Debussy, playing Joni Mitchell versions of Edgar Allan Poe poems on a 1920s era piano, and you get an approximate sense of the influences singer/pianist Stephanie Rearick channels on the way to making her very unique, idiosyncratic art pop." -- Berkshire Eagle
"...she sounds like the love child of Tori Amos and Robyn Hitchcock." -- The Chicago Reader
"Rearick's a genre-bounding vocalist, keyboard player and trumpeter who takes great care bringing together things indie with her classical and art-music influences." - The Isthmus
"For Madison's Stephanie Rearick, labels like 'classical' and 'arty' don't do justice to the genre-bending music box of sound that comes from her upright piano. It's by turns adventurous and accessible, ancient and futuristic, comforting and scary. On her 2005 album Star Belly, sounds from an old west barroom mingle with high concept cabaret and psychedelic distortion." -- The Onion
Stephanie Rearick has been performing and recording since 1993, as frontwoman for Your Mom, Your Mom SRO, and the Coma Savants, occasional side-musician and soundtrack provider, and solo artist.
Listen to Stephanie's song Motorcade (with a lovely introduction and preceding interview by Rick Tvedt of the late lamented Rick's Cafe) on Lee Rayburn's July (labeled June on their website) 13 show on Madison's 92.1 The Mic, or download the podcast.
Stephanie Rearick won the 2006 Madison Area Music Awards (MAMAs) for Best Unique Album (Star Belly) and the 2004 MAMAs for Best Classical Album (The Bucket Rider) and Best Classical Artist..

Hiya, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hope you got a ridiculous amount of presents all of which you wanted very much. Also I trust that you spent Christmas with those you like best in all the world, cause otherwise, why bother? I am running away to Canada in January to record some music, so maybe I should incorporate that into my new years resolution... something, something, I will be creative and productive, blah, blah, blah. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, hope the holidays are great fun for you. -Kate Elliott
Hey Stephanie! Nice to hear from you. You already know that I love your music! I just added a bunch of new songs... expecting a baby any day, then I'll think about throwing that party!
