Born in Ottawa, Canada, Stephan Nesrallah has been performing his own special
blend of folk, rock, and children's music for more than twenty-five years. A
composer, lyricist, recording artist, entertainer, actor and educator with more
than eight hundred songs and four volumes of poetry to his credit, he sings,
and plays guitar, piano and keyboards.
As a teenager, Stephan was awarded two scholarships to the Banff School
of Fine Arts to study musical theatre, dance and voice. He studied
Honours English at Carleton University, where he was very active in the university theatre company staring in numerous plays. His acting took him to Toronto were he performed with several theatre companies before joining Canada's internationally-renowned Stratford
Festival Company and the Stratford Festival Touring Company. When the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, under the direction of Albert Millaire, was invited to perform "La Guerre, Yes Sir" by Rock Carrier at Stratford's Avon Theatre Stephan was one of four english actors chosen to join the company for their summer engagement. After spending five exciting seasons in Stratford, Stephan gave
up a budding career as an actor to devote full time to his music.
Stephan created original music for a number of theatrical productions, among
them "Bethune, Bethune". He was the first of his generation to meet with the
Chinese Consulate, when the Chinese Embassy first opened in Canada, on Bronson
Ave. in Ottawa, to learn about their traditional music and about the role Bethune
played in China.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Frederick Karam, he went on to complete further
studies at the University of Ottawa in advanced harmony, polyphonic composition,
keyboard musicianship, and solfege.
Stephan's entertainment career has included the production of two successful
albums, "Space Traveller" and "Transition". Internationally famous skater and
artist Toller Cranston created the multi-coloured illustration featured on the
front cover of Space Traveller. Seven singles taken from the two albums received
extensive air-play both nationally and internationally. The single "Nightwings"
achieved "number one" on the Canadian charts. One of his early compositions,
"Stephan's Lament" was recently recorded in Ireland and received considerable
air-play the UK and Europe. Stephan has produced and recorded
several CD's as well, with his latest to be released
this coming year. Stephan has performed solo; with "The Perth County Conspiracy
d.n.e."; "Free Cabaret"; his band "Dreamer"; and with his music partner Dave
Kalil, as part of the legendary duo"Kalil & Nesrallah". Stephan performed 42 - 46 weeks a year
and "Kalil & Nesrallah" were one of the most popular musical duos
of their time playing to sold out audiences everywhere they toured.
Although Stephan has enjoyed a busy music career, he has always worked closely
with the mentally and physically challenged, youth organizations, boys' and
girls' clubs, and children in general. He has been a guest lecturer at universities,
colleges, secondary and elementary schools conducting workshops in music and
theatre, funded in part by the Ontario Arts Council. His goal was to
challenge and inspire our youth.
From 1987 to 1992, Stephan toured schools in Ontario, Labrador and Newfoundland
and parts of the USA with story-teller, author, founder of Youth Corps, and
Order Of Canada recipient Father Tom McKillop. Their widely-acclaimed concert
presentations combined music and story-telling with the theme "Youth - The Journey
In Search Of Meaning," based on the works of Dr. Viktor Frankl. They provided
more than 200,000 young people with a forum to deal with the hopes, dreams,
fears and anxieties which they face every day.
For 20 years, during the months of November and December, Stephan performed
his unique children's Christmas show he co-created with his friend and long
time music partner Dave Kalil.
Stephan has appeared many times on the
CBC TV Concert In The Parks series and on numerous music variety shows on CTV,
CBC and Global. Stephan also record music for the 1999 PAN-AM games in Winnipeg
for CBC Sports. The lyrics for his song "Hard Working" from the "Space Traveller" album won special recognition and were placed on a plaque and
displayed on the 5th floor of Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Stephan is actively
involved with his family in their church choir and is currently in production
of two new albums to be released this coming year.
He continues to write and record new music and will begin performing again this coming year.

When the world is one Every kiss would be a prayer To watch and love from the inside A moment of triumph, On this journey of pride
To love the way you are To love who you will always be The look in the mirror And the me found in me When oceans will be blue And all hope will be a ray to shine
When love was always love Every beat of a heart, - afraid to hate The truth in all belonging, In a harmony of hope This faith of all faiths The faith of heaven - For heavens sake
To love the way you are To love who you will always be The look in the mirror And the me found in me When oceans will be blue And all hope will be a ray to shine
When there will always be Opposition to what was right But without wars - There was no reason to fight
To love the way you are To love who you will always be The look in the mirror And the me found in me When oceans will be blue And all hope will be a ray to shine
When oceans will be blue And all hope will be a ray to shine
