Advocate/activist, DJ, party promoter, aquarius, subtle hypocondriac. I work in the field of harm reduction. I've lived in California, Texas, Georgia, Holland, Massachusetts, and now New York.
"Society can be judged by how it treats it's most disadvantaged citizens."
I put on parties at night and have had some good and bad success over the past 8 years of doing it. I did boylesque in Boston, NYC and LA from 2001-2006. I'd rather embrace a DIY and community ethic than buy into a corporate, carbon-copied way of life. Start your own dance fights or dance parties - it feels better that way.
DJ BIO: Stephen C. (aka DJ Sir Loins) landed in NYC in the Fall of 2006, and since then has carved a deep mark in nightlife with the homopunk party, QxBxRx (Queers, Beers & Rears, www.myspace.com/qxbxrx). He has DJ'd alongside numerous well-known DJs including Juan Maclean (DFA Records), Lady Miss Kier (DeeeLite), Tim Sweeney (DFA/Beats in Space), Michael T (Motherfucker), and Theo (Lunachicks), to name a few. Sir Loins DJs a mix of punk influenced dance, and dance influenced rock n roll, bringing pioneering genres into the modern age with a mix of beats and jams. He gained recognition in Boston with the party Hot Lunch (www.myspace.com/hotlunchboston), one of Boston's biggest queer dance parties to date. For the past eight years, Sir Loins has built up his reputation booking, promoting, and DJing alongside well-known indie acts such as Theo & the Skyscrapers (ex-Lunachicks), Donita Sparks & Dee Plakas (of L7), Pansy Division, Von Iva, Holy Hail (ex-Fannypack), to more obscure performers such as Two Tears (ex-Red Aunts), MKNG FRNDZ, and Kids On TV. From basement punk show dreams come true, to massive dance venues, Sir Loins has DJ'd in NY at Studio B, Element, Santos Party House, Don Hill's, Galapagos, Beauty Bar, Nowhere Bar, Sugarland, Cyn Lounge, Glasslands, Cake Shop, Luke & Leroy's, and Lotus; and in Boston at the Paradise Rock Club & Lounge, Great Scott, Milky Way, Midway Cafe, and Reel Bar.
