Stephen Emery - Singer/ Songwriter/ Guitarist:
Stephen has peformed in small coffee houses, live music clubs, and outdoor festivals for the past few years throughout Vancouver. In the first two years of this century Stephen lived in Tokyo Japan (and performed there in the folksy Koenji district). This experience had a profound effect on Stephen's music and his view of life in Canada.
Stephen's music video, My Pretty City was recently featured on an interview with him on Fearless TV, an Access Community program aired on Shaw TV about the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.
Stephen most enjoys playing benefits, coffeehouses, and community events. He played from time to time at Matthew Presidente's Unplugged/Groove Box at Numbers Cabaret in Vancouver and still sits in with the same crew at the Central Cafe on Denman Street when he is not exhausted from his ESL teaching day career. Previously, Stephen played the East Side Pride Festival in 2005, 2007 and the Vancouver Pride Picnic and Cafe Deux Soleils (correct spelling) in the summer of 2006. Stephen also played the Jane Rule Tribute at the Davie Village Cafe in winter 2008 and Aaron Webster Protest rally in January 2005. In the 1990s Stephen played guitar in pit bands and sang for Vancouver choruses and musical theatre groups.
Most recently Stephen has become a community videographer and produces videos of local artists and community events in Vancouver for Access Community TV which is aired on Shaw Cable. His recent work can be seen at http://www.wikispaces.com/stephenemery. Stephen Emery is also a published writer and is working on a novel about a rock band in Japan.
