After taking a course on electronic music in the Spring at the North Valley Music School in Whitefish, I spent the summer sequencing on my keyboard, exploring the sounds that come through when I sit down to play. I had the privilege of collaborating with some incredible musicians and learning so much about myself and the nature of the creative process. I've uploaded four songs from the past cycle, to show a general sense of the movement in which I've been immersed and to share the energy with which I've been working. "Home" and "Here" were both projects from late Spring, around May-June, and I do sing with both of them although I have not recorded myself singing with them yet. "Open" was recorded around the end of June-beginning of July, processing a lot and exploring intuitive flow and improvisation... I can't wait to mix that song. And "Burst" is my most recently finished "skeleton" of a song. I have many more, but these are all I'm posting for now. I have so much to learn about myself, my creative flow, my keyboard, and technology in general, but it feels really good to be in this stage. I'm so fascinated by how I change as I open myself to exploring sound, and I'm thrilled to see what comes of the next few months. It is my intention to purchase Ableton Live and start using my keyboard as a midi-controller to take my music to the next level with computer software equipment. I'm ready to start exploring effects, mastering, and looping! Excited to see what happens! :)
Much love to all,
~Stephen
