Stephen Fell Asunder started in December of 2003. Using a moniker borrowed from a Mike Garrigan song title, Stephen Smith started his trek across the state of North Carolina playing solo-acoustic shows at various coffeeshops and bars. Spending time in college-towns like Boone, NC as well as playing larger venues like the Berkeley Cafe in Raleigh NC with regionally well-known musicians like Mike Garrigan or other locally reknown ones like Brooks Wood and the late Nathan Davis. After about 8 months, Stephen moved to the metro-DC area where he released his first EP called "If I Was A Millionaire... EP". The EP was recorded before he left NC at a great studio in Charlotte called "Catalyst Recording". In the years that followed, you might have seen Steve, Steve and Ben, Steve and Sara, or any permutation of. Some form of Stephen Fell Asunder has been playing from NC to Maryland. From AppState's student center to Starbucks in Raleigh, NC and Falls Church VA, to other various coffeeshops in Greenville, Rocky Mount, Wilmington NC, Woodbridge, Falls Church, Arlington VA, College Park MD, and Columbia MD. Most recently you could've caught Steve and Ben at the Pour House in Raleigh or just Steve with a group of song-writer's at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Currently Steve is performing solo and recording a second album with Mike Garrigan at Two Egrets Media and Recording.
