Stephanie Mae - lyrics, melody, vocals, guitar, and piano
Influences
Right now... Hans Zimmer and Johnny Cash.
I never want to write a song just for sake of writing a song. I think of a song as a chance to tell the world something for 3 minutes, and those 3 minutes shouldn't be wasted.
New York, London, or Gay Parie? Hardly. Stephanie Mae grew up in a small town in rural Arizona. There in the rarefied mountain air she wrote and composed many of the tunes you find on her first CD, Poker Face.
It is often said that an aptitude music and mathematics are interrelated. So it is true with Stephanie Mae. While pursuing a degree in engineering at a California university, Stephanie co-produced and recorded her album.
Drawing upon all of her favorite influences and sounds, some songs, like "At the Edge" and "Just Like Me" are fun, melodic pop. Others are more acoustic and personal, like "Trust" and "Rooms."
The sounds of the cello and piano weave in and out of songs, all backed up by her acoustic guitar. When instruments just won't do, Stephanie draws upon her experience in choir and creates lush backdrops using 16-layers of vocals harmonies.
Influences include Jewel, Michelle Branch, and Fiona Apple.
