Not since the heyday of Punk has a band been so in your face with aggression, attitude and power, fuelled by class and raw honesty. Musically, Steranko defy categorisation, but the integrity that runs all the way through their songs is that of classic rock greatness.
Fronted by six-and-a-half foot one-man tornado Lee Mangan, their live shows, once seen never forgotten melt the polar ice caps with earth rumbling bass lines from Lee Elvey and scorching, cut-throat guitar from Sanchez, while tribal thunder is supplied by John Barrett.
Hailing from South London, the band have spent the last couple of years touring America, the Far East, Europe and here in the UK with their debut album "Culturephrenia" and are now ready to unleash their next album “Keepers of The Fallo” on the world.
From the frantic blistering opening track "Nylon" it is clear that the new record takes no prisoners - from the outset it is clear that the band have created a milestone of 21st century urban angst. A "Clockwork Orange" for the ears and for NOW.
"Burglar or Banker" is a skanking tirade against the 'live-now, pay-later' culture, and strikes a chord in the heart of anyone who has ever owed a penny. In essence, the whole of ‘Keepers Of The Fallo’ is an aural time capsule of the ills of 2008, in much the same way as the first Clash album was to the late 70’s.
The new work also includes a number of the band’s videos, directed by lead vocalist Lee Mangan.
Lee has recently had exhibitions of his art in London and New York as well as being included in a Royal Auction of Art alongside the likes of David Hockney and Damon Hirst.
To coincide with the album’s much-anticipated release, Steranko will be undertaking extensive tours of the UK and Europe, performing at a number of summer festivals before returning to the USA and Far East. Full details at www.sterankomusic.com
Watch Steranko carefully because this is a band whose time is NOW and they are set to make a substantial mark in the world of Rock.
