Hopefully ourselves but I'm sure you'll be able to pick out where were coming from, somewhere in our influences...
StereoFire formed in late 2005, as early version of the band you see now, which was quite different. Four friends, all at Bootham at the time decided to put their musical intrests into the same pot. A pot called: - "The Famous Unknown", "Station Silver" and then finally "The Frame". These friends were: Daniel Drumm - Lead Guitar, Neal Wood - Rhythm Guitar, Daniel Chalk - [then on] Bass/Vocals and Peter Coombes - Drums. Said musical interests turned out not to be so similar, which lead too much shifting around. Daniel (D) left to make way for Matthew Sibley, a short lived venture of only a few months, after which Daniel returned...then shortly followed by Sibley's amicable departure.
The band was at least then stable and some writing was done. Songs of the likes of "Sight & Sound" and "Like Angels" were written at this point. The Bands first appearance as a group was at the Bootham/Mount Amnesty Concert in late 2005, after which they returned to the rehearsal room to write some more and get a solid set together. Unfortunately difference of opinion took only so long to frustrate Rhythm Guitarist Neal into leaving after just a few more months. The band put writing on hold to try and solve their dilemma. Chalky supplied the goods, taking up the Guitar to make way for a new (notably easier to find) Bassist, of which Peter knew many. One among them was Andy Barker who Peter had performed in many bands with and Dan (D) hat met a few times. The chemistry was their immediately and the ball was rolling again soon enough…
…Its been rolling ever since. Now called StereoFire, (due to apparent copyright infringement…) the band, after nearly a year since the introduction of Andy, now gigs frequently Supporting the likes of “The Mules”, “Dirty Sally”, “The Gammatics” and “Cohesion” and has recently recorded a two song Demo, “Before the Fire” (£2 at any gig), which has been well received by local and extra-local radio, and fans alike. We are currentl having a break to re-write and add our setlist. Keep your eyes peeled. We'll be back soon.

On Thursday 31st July Hessian brings you our most exciting gig yet:
RATATAT at the newly opened Duchess, York - a fantastic underground lair of a venue.
Support comes from Leeds' awesome Wintermute, and with DJing from Grim Beeper, Tim Prudames and Ollie Harvey to look forward to it should be a great night.
Either follow the links above or search "Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire" on iTunes. The song has been played recently by Steve Lamacq on Radio 1 & Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music.
"Produced by ¡Forward, Russia!'s Tom Woodhead, debut single A Fire Born In Dallas (released on the Pay For The Piano imprint) finds post-hardcore and prog influences welded together to create a sound that is both vulnerable and self-assured. Admittedly, the usual influences of Fugazi and At The Drive-In are worn pretty obviously, but the band are far more than mere copyists.
Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, it would seem, have more than enough firepower in their sonic arsenal to kick some of the music world's feted young pretenders into touch. " The Metro
Hessian is excited to present Semifinalists at our most intimate gig yet - City Screen Basement Bar on 6th June. The guys promise a blinding show, featuring an awesome new light show! NME described their live show as "a brilliantly bonkers confection: like vomiting up a Ferrari, a gram of coke and a missing child all at once." This one should not be missed for anything!
