Sounds Like
The Red Hot Chili Peppers meet Alice in Chains meet Metallica meet Primus meet Tool... Kinda... Combined with hints of Fishbone, Infectious Grooves, The Police, King Crimson, and a whole slew of random spiciness... Y’all take a gander and get back to us on what you think we sound like...
STEREO FREAKOUT began it’s performance career in late 2007 and is currently playing anywhere and everywhere they can sink their original, somewhat hard-to-classify hard-rockin’ grooves into...
Topher, playing an array of instruments since childhood, took up the bass almost on a whim after long-time friend Jay Bones dove in head-first to singing, slinging guitar, and songwriting. Together they are JAY BONES & TUB, whom Topher toured and played many local shows with. Topher also hosted "Topher Tuesdays" at John Patrick’s in Alameda for over a year, whom many local talents slid through, and did throw one helluva party on his last night to the town’s recollection...
Mr. Infamous Dave Jones is the veteran the group... Back in the good ol’ days he played in bay area local favorites UNDERTOAD at places like the OMNI, THE STONE, & BERKELEY SQUARE... His other groups throughout the years include EVIL and KING DONG, just to name a couple, but has been constantly jamming and writing his own originals relentlessly over the years....
Mike Sopko, the new veteran added to the lineup, is a man who not only plays in the crazy, improv-experimental rockin’ & somtimes funky band MONSTER COCK RALLY but hails from Cleveland, Ohio and St. Luke’s hospital at "East 123rd, beeeatches!"- he’s the legendary man with the "fastest hands this side of the Mississippi", some say... Mike currently teaches at La Morinda Academy of Arts for Music as well as tours and tries to play live as much as possible- he has played in a dozen or so projects including the rock band XELA from Cleveland, the DEER PARK PROJECT, and local band COCAINE COWBOY... as well as played with greats like DOSH and CALVIN WESTIN (who he toured with in Jan ’08). Mike has been playing guitar for over 20 years and learned with the great STEVE GORDON, one of his personal heroes, who is responsible for shaping Mike’s insane talents and abilities...
Jym moved back up to the bay after graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 1999 to try his hand in music. Jym went back to school to study classical guitar, music theory, and voice and continues to do so. Hooking up with some old highschool brohams in 2001-2, they formed THE FUCKING GENTLEMEN, who after a whopping two gig-career, quickly disbanded due to "creative differences". Jym later formed GLEAZIL with Infamous and BURN DISCIPLE & BLACK MOON RITUAL’S George Rider on bass, but before serious gigging they decided to go their separate musical ways.
Toph and Jym had been working on some acoustic-based jams for a while, but definitely bammed them up a notch with a biggidy bam from the spice weasel and recruited the percussive talents of Infamous... and ultimately the guitar talents of Sop-bro... taking the project to the next level. 5 songs were captured via ADAT in a make-shift, do-it-at-home but not-at-home studio, and then pain-stakingly copied and slang out, totaling over 600 hand-written discs to date. In January SFO went into Cue Production’s studio in Concord and recorded two songs- "Stoli Girl" and a new version of "The Way"- releasing these two tracks in a single format. They are available for your listening enjoyment.
On December 28th SFO premiered at Rooster’s Roadhouse in Alameda, bringing in a wopping 80+ people... Not too shabby for a first show... And since then they’ve played half a dozen venues and are currently booking anywhere and everywhere with whoever whenever they can hook up with...
