About me:

Please visit Steve Anderson Productions for more details and music , also feel free to peak at my Stardust Blog http://astridpethisstardust.blogspot.com, or come say hey on Twitter

Steve is currently working on the musical arrangements for burlesque legend Ms Polly Rae whose "All New Hurly Burly Show" opens in February 2010 at The Leicester Square Theatre directed by William Baker as well as more material with the fabulous Elouise - see links in friends list

Perhaps best known as the long term musical collaborator for Kylie Minogue , Steve began his career at DMC studios as a remixer quickly gaining respect as one half of Brothers In Rhythm which blended his musical and technical knowledge with the DJ and dancefloor expertise of his partner Dave Seaman. They went on to work on artists including Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Janet Jackson and Sting as well as Steve collaborating with Paul McCartney at his Sussex studio. He became known for re-inventing classics such as “Temptation” by Heaven 17, ‘Xanadu’ by Olivia Newton John and ‘Save A Prayer’ by Duran Duran. This led to production work with the Pet Shop Boys, Take That (including the No.1’s ‘Never Forget’ and ‘Sure’) and Lulu. It also marked the beginning of a long term collaboration with Kylie Minogue starting with ‘Confide In Me’ which he co-wrote and produced along with her self title debut album for Deconstruction Records.

Steve was also producing in his own right and exploring his love of the orchestra and choirs collaborating with Wil Malone and Richard Niles on arrangements and recording with The London Session Orchestra, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has worked in some of the best studio’s including Real World, Olympic, Abbey Road, Sarm West, Bearsville (Woodstock) , Studio 301 (Sydney) and Guillaume Tell (Paris). He uses Logic Pro and Apple Mac Products as well as The Vienna Symphonic Library , Waves and Native Instruments.

The BIR remix work continued with U2, Garbage, Placebo and Alanis Morissette among the artists and in 1997 Steve was asked to be the Musical Director for Kylie’s ‘Intimate And Live’ Tour in Australia alongside Creative Director William Baker which included the cover of ‘Dancing Queen’ later reprised at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 again under his Musical Direction as well as the Paralympics Ceremony with a stirring version of ‘Waltzing Matilda’ performed with an orchestra and 200 piece children’s choir. With his love of people such as Nelson Riddle, Baz Luhrmann, Jeremy Lubbock and David Foster he is very at home in creating what have been described as musical ‘goosebump’ moments or ‘tingles and tears’.

Since 1997 to the present day Steve has been Musical Director for virtually every Kylie appearance whether it be for television (MTV VMA’s. Money Cant Buy, An Audience With, Top Of The Pops, Party In The Park), special appearances (Sydney Mardi Gras, G-A-Y, Fox Studios Opening) or her five incredible tours including the groundbreaking ‘KylieFever’and 2005’s spectacular ‘Showgirl’ which included his arrangement of the timeless “Over The Rainbow’ performed by Kylie perched upon a dazzling crescent moon high above the stage. He always works directly with the artist and Creative Director’s (William Baker, Alan Macdonald), Choreographers (Michael Rooney, Rafael Bonachela. Akram Khan, William Forsythe), the stage MD and Video /Lighting departments to get the maximum potential out of a show mixing the contemporary and classic , often still making changes after opening night. The quality control goes to the very last minute supervising the live DVD’s and TV show audio. He has also been Kylie’s long term co-writer and produced tracks on her albums (including the critically acclaimed “Impossible Princess” and hugely successful “Fever”)

As a Universal Music Publishing writer Steve is always working on developing new artists as well as with established ones including Britney Spears (the song “Breathe On Me” appearing on the 9 Million selling “In The Zone” album and was used for Spears “Fantasy” perfume ad campaign for Elizabeth Arden), Girls Aloud, Matt Dusk, Atomic Kitten (title track of their No 1 album “Feels So Good’), Liberty X and Holly Valance.

In 2006/2007 as well as being Musical Director for Westlife’s “Face To Face” tour he continued to co-write/produce for various projects (including an album for UCJ act Ryan Dan and songs with Britney Spears, Amy Foster ,Jamie Hartman, Lisa Greene and Bailey Tzuke).. The new version of “Showgirl’ returned to triumphant reviews in the UK as part of Kylie's “Homecoming” concerts which was documented on a subsequent CD and DVD. The documentary being filmed around this became the film ‘White Diamond” for which Steve provided the soundtrack and includes many exclusively recorded Kylie songs such as the Blossom Dearie classics “You Are There” and “Try Your Wings” as well as the haunting new version of the title song from the film which also appears on the CD/DVD version of Kylie’s new album “X”.

In October 2007 a new version of Jonathan Larson’s classic musical “Rent” opened at the Duke Of Yorks Theatre in London’s West End Directed by William Baker and with Musical Supervision and Arrangements by Steve Anderson and Vocal Arrangements by Terry Ronald. The Larson estate gave full license for the piece to be revamped for a new generation and the show starred Jessie Wallace, Denise Van Outen, Siobhan Donaghy and an amazing cast of young actors . This version replaced a lot of the original rock elements with beautiful soaring orchestral arrangements and contemporary musical treatments.

In November 2007 he was Musical Director for “The Kylie Show” on ITV which included new arrangements of the classic ‘Tears On My Pillow’ and ‘I Believe In You’ with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as working with Jools Holland on arrangements for Kylie’s performance on his annual New Years Eve Hootenanny for the BBC.

In 2008 he returned back with Kylie, William Baker and Michael Rooney and an incredible new band putting together her KX2008 tour which opened in Paris and received overwhelming reviews. With 52 shows in Europe culminating at the 02 Arena in London this was without doubt her most adventurous tour to date incorporating songs from 'X", classics, covers and premiering new material including a new Minogue/Anderson composition, the beautiful ballad 'Flower". The show continued on its second leg taking in South America , Asia and Australia ending up with a total of 75 concerts played worldwide in a year. He also took time out to co-produce and arrange the spectacular duet of Abba’s "The Winner Takes It All" performed by Kylie and Dannii with the BBC Concert Orchestra for the "Beautiful People" soundtrack.

2009 sees Steve back working with new and established acts including songs and productions on albums by Natalie Bassingthwaighte (for whom he was also Musical Director for her 2009 Sydney Mardi Gras Headline Performance) , Christophe Willem, Elouise and Westlife as well as Kylie’s triumphant live debut in North America performing at such prestigious venues as The Hollywood Bowl and the The Pearl Theatre in Las Vegas.

He is currently preparing arangements for a new burlesque show directed by William Baker and starring Ms Polly Rae which opens February 2010 at The Leicester Square Theatre in London’s West End.
