Heroes
Abe Laboriel Sr., Karl Vincent, Michael Giacchino for being three of the most talented and nicest guys I know.
About me: At the age of 12, I believe I found my true calling in life: playing the electric bass. During high school our school band had the honor of playing President Ronald Reagans 2nd term Inaugeration at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, I toured and lived in both Europe and the U.S.
I have since added the acoustic bass to my arsenal, and I feel very fortunate to have been mentored by Emmy award winning composer Michael Giacchino, and session aces Abraham Laboriel and Karl Vincent.
For the past eleven years, I was responsible for Music Production for Touchstone Television at The Walt Disney Company. I worked with numerous film and television composers, and worked on such shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Home Improvement,” and “Alias.”
In 2005, I was recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as the Session Supervisor for the Emmy award winning show “Lost.” I also performed on film and television productions, and my DVD credits include “Alias,” as well as “The Incredibles.”
After recently relocating to Portland, Oregon, I am looking forward to the continuation of playing with great musicians, breathing clean air, and spending quality time with my family.
Lately, I've been playing with Courtney Jones, Deja Nu, Conjunto Alegra, Deanna & The Downbeats and the Swing Sisters. I also have some shows with a great new country artist named Tiffany Carlson as well as subbing for the Bureau of Standards Big Band and the Ben Macy Trio.
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
Who I'd like to meet: I'd really like to meet local jazz musicians as well as other upright and electric players in the area.
Well looky there! I just got back from Mexico to find myself in print. Unfortunately, I've joined the cavalcade of dorks who point out errors in magazines. :-p
We need to talk about how to play this upright I just rented.
Hey Steve! The weather down here is still gross! It's soo disgusting! It's 92 right now! But that hasn't stopped me from getting pumpkin spice latte already!! :) Hope all is well up there in "Seattle"! Latwes!!
Steve! I was just in the store this week and had coffee with kelsey but you weren't there. :( I hope you and your family are doing well, and that I'll see you soon!
Hey Steve! Congratulations on your new baby! I hope everything is going really well for you. :) I would love to see you again soon. And, of course, if I get a chance for a bass player, I will call you right away.
Wahoo!!!! Yippee!!! Many, many congratulations, my friend. So excited to hear about the new addition to your family. Please give all a big hug from me. See you soon...Love, D
I was just going to email you tonight. Was thinking of you and your family today...Please give those lovely ladies a big hello from me. Can't wait to make some music with you again. Until then, my friend.
Thanks for the add. It was really great seeing you last month (it seems like much longer than that). We'll probably be visiting Portland again this year, but that's a while off. I'll let you know. How's the family? New baby? I forget when her due date is. Anyhow, I hope you're having a great day, and keep playing that sweet jazz bass of yours!
