Steve Boisen has been performing throughout the Tampa Bay area for several years, playing both acoustic and electric bass with a wide variety of musical ensembles from jazz combos and big bands to symphony orchestras and popular music groups. A native of Long Island, New York, Steve studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music under scholarship before relocating to Florida. In addition to live performances, he is a frequent participant in recording sessions and his bass work can be heard on a variety of local, national and international releases.
Steve Boisen has performed and/or recorded with noted jazz artists such as saxophonist Harry Allen, pianist Ray Kennedy, drummer/vibraphonist Chuck Redd and percussionist Duduka da Fonseca. He has performed at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, the WGLT Summer Music Festival, the Jazz Club of Sarasota and at major venues throughout the Tampa Bay area. He has also appeared with world music group Gypsy Star who regularly opened for major touring acts and whose debut CD featured his original compositions.
