Praise for Songs for Dustmites
"...Steve Burns has returned to his first love: music. Anyone fearing an album of Pee-Wee-ish singalong songs can rest assured-Songs for Dustmites was created with adults in mind; it is lush and symphonic pop music."
-Performing Songwriter Magazine
"...Burns' lyrical insight and gift for writing and arranging endlessly listenable pop songs consistently manages to steal the show."
-Pitchforkmedia.com
"...one of the most pleasant musical surprises of 2003 so far."
-New York Observer
"...Music is sorely lacking in intelligent, big-hearted artists like Burns. The fact that Dustmites is as good as it is comes as one of the biggest surprises of the year, and will assuredly win him some much-deserved artistic credibility."
-Under The Radar
if you know us not, please see our band website. our story is currently complicated and previoulsly striped.
the Unbeliever was co-written with Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips. it was produced by David Fridmann. we, Steve Burns, wrote A Slightly Bigger Space and Mike Rubin produced it. we made A Very Troubled Day with Steven Drozd in our bedroom and his basement. mary Fridmann sings space dolphinesquely on this track.

we are not dead. we do not plan to die until august 24, 2098. our death will take place in the middle of a 96-minute guitar solo that we will perform wearing a robotic exoskeleton. it will be broadcast live from alpha colony via brainwave-cable, as part of vh1's telecast of the monsters of metaphoric science rock reunion tour.

Steve Burns (and The Struggle)'s Friend Space (Top 24)
Dear Mr. Burns, a new CD is highly requested. Fans agree, we'd like to have it because some of us are still hanging on to old ways and use CD players in our cars and stuff. It's a cooler than average summer, I realize... but technically it is summertime :o)
I looked up to see how you were doing & God I'm impressed. It might not mean too much, but I'm proud of you. Love the music! Hope to see a show one day. Come to Austin, ya dig? (:
Right, so I went to steveswebpage.com, and it said "new tour dates". I almost dropped my water glass when I saw that there was a San Diego date IN JULY.
Alas, it was in 2004.
Any plans to tour soon? Unfortunately, I'm about to get transferred to tiny, remote Guam, so I'll probably miss any shows, but I'm curious to see what kind of tour you'll plan to go with the new album.
Steve and co, you should blog more to keep us informed of what's going on. Fans love to connect with artists more these days. I'd love to buy your new EP when it comes out.
And Twitter is a pretty popular thing for indie artists these days. Maybe try it out!
you honestly amaze me! you have such amazing music you inspired me as a young child and you inspire me now as i move into the world of becoming an adult i hope i will be able to continue with my passion of music like you did. i hope to see you live one day. =)
Getting excited waiting for your new release. Remember when you were a kid waiting for Christmas (or insert other gift giving holiday here), you just couldn't wait and the days seems to get slower? Well thats what it feels like waiting for the new music release!!
